Issues running certain games when disconnected
I have an everyday laptop that I use for everything, including classes/work and gaming.
At home i connect it to an egpu with an RX 580, but im running into some weird issues when running games with it disconnected.
The main issue I'm having is that when I disconnect my egpu, certain games refuse to open.
For example some very low requirement games like The Binding of Isaac and Slay the Spire, that used to run fine on integrated graphics, suddenly refuse to open.
I've done some testing, and it seems that the issue comes from having amd drivers installed. If I uninstall amd drivers and run the games without my egpu, they open fine and run perfectly, however if the amd drivers are uninstalled and the egpu is disconnected it seems to stop working.
I've tried forcing the games to run on integrated graphics in my windows graphics settings, but it seems that even when I have my egpu connected, forcing the games to run on integrated graphics results in them not opening. The same happens when the egpu is disconnected as well, and my only solution currently is to just uninstall my amd drivers in order to be able to open these games when using my laptop outside.
Has anybody had a similar problem or know how to fix this?
Intel Core i5-8250U CPU
Installed RAM 16.0 GB
Intel UHD Graphics 620
RX 580 8gb
The games ran fine before I installed Radeon drivers, but the same issues persisted afterwards.
@wa1fu, Do you have any settings in Windows Graphics settings that specifies the eGPU as the chosen card for the games? Maybe reinstall the graphics drivers for your Intel UHD Graphics 620 iGPU?
