Suffering the fate of early adopters I can't get the RX5700 recognized on my MBP2018 w/RP560X using an Akitio Node and the most recent drivers from Bootcampdrivers.com. Any pointers what I could try to troubleshoot are welcome!

The Akitio Node appears in macOS but no sign of the eGPU there either. An RX580 works with this setup without issues.

In MacOSX there is no support yet, but Bootcamp should work fine with your MBP Model. I have the same and all AMD cards worked the same way, see also in this bootcamp guide for 15-inch MBP

Unless the Bootcamp drivers are not working with the RX5700 eGPU setup that is?

Yes, maybe it's still a grey cat and they don't work. You still can go to run it without Bootcamp drivers and abandon the idea to accelerate the internal display. (Just disable the RP560X and use normal Radeon drivers for your eGPU).

Whelp. Did everything by the book, no luck. Node is detected, but no RX5700. Swapped with my RX580 and instantly I got it detected and it got the yellow-bang as expected. Bootcampdrivers 19.7.2 btw.

The RX5700 has its fan going, and the Radeon letters are shining red but it does not get detected. Thunderbolt Control Software shows the Akitio Node (no matter which port), but that's about it.

The effort seems too Titanic atm. Since I can't test the card otherwise (no separate case/mobo) I might send it back and wait until I hear and read about more successful builds (@fasaso seems he has had some luck).

well, all I can say is exactly how I did it, maybe it'll help.

I first downloaded a fresh installation from Windows (1903) to bootcamp. Then I downloaded the Bootcampdrivers.com drivers and installed them according to the instructions in the corresponding file "Read me". After the restart everything ran slower because the internal graphics card was not recognized. I did not connect the external graphics card until this step. I shut down the mac again and connected the graphics card

(configuration: macbook pro (Thunderbolt) -> Egpu (Thunderbolt) -> RX5700xt (HDMI) -> Monitor (HDMI).

Now you should be able to bootcamp normally. That's all I did. I hope I could help you.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

Starting with Radeon Software Adrenalin 19.7.1 version, the RX 5700/XT are supported in Windows. They also work in Boot Camp mode on Mac computers. I've tried both and they worked fine [RX 5700 link] [RX 5700 XT link]. The drivers are not optimized for eGPU use and the performance loss through internal display mode is greater than Polaris and Vega.

New RX5700 XT (replacement item) and BOOM. Immediately detected! Bootcampdrivers July2019-V2 driving eGPU and dGPU. Gonna update once I had time to run benchmarks.

@graukatze

Would you be able to benchmark using Unigine Valley?

I followed the instructions for the Bootcamp drivers,  the gpu is detected in Device managed post install but I’m getting nothing out the 5700 xt in my Razer core. Using DisplayPort for reference.

windows build 1909

any ideas ?
