Black Screen w/ Bootcamp when eGPU disconnected
Hello, I am getting a black screen when I boot into Windows on my 2017 15-in MacBook Pro with eGPU disconnected. With eGPU connected and the external display connected directly to eGPU, Windows boots normally and the external display shows Windows just fine. When the eGPU is disconnected, however, and I want to boot Windows without eGPU (e.g. if I'm traveling), I get the Windows logo and then straight to a black screen but the keyboard is lit up and I can hear the system audio chimes, so I know it's just Windows thinking the eGPU is still connected even though it's not. Is there a remedy for this?
I'm sure someone smarter than me will be able to solve your problem but sounds to me like both your GPU's are disabled (Intel and AMD) or have driver issues.
I'd recommend installing team viewer on another machine (or phone) and see if you can see what's going on that way.
For others to help you will need to share what installation steps you used - if you have manually disabled your dGPU you could use team viewer to enable.
It may be the drivers you have used - IIRC the latest Bootcamp.com drivers work with both dGPU and eGPU so installing them may fix the issue but I'm totally just guessing.
Step 1: Installation details
Step 2: Instal team viewer and have a poke about.
Step 3. Profit?
2017 13" MacBook Pro Touch Bar
GTX1060 + AKiTiO Thunder3 + Win10
GTX1070 + Sonnet Breakaway Box + Win10
GTX1070 + Razer Core V1 + Win10
Vega 56 + Razer Core V1 + macOS + Win10
Vega 56 + Mantiz Venus + macOS + W10
Also, I forgot to mention my MacBook Pro came with the Intel 630 graphics and the Radeon Pro 560. So, I feel like adding the Vega 56 eGPU might have confused Windows on what to use when I boot up without it connected. Still, I feel like it should pick something! I am not familiar with Team Viewer, but I could give that a shot.
