Apple updated Bootcamp for the first time in a few years. Looks like just a small fix to the BootCamp app

Annotation 2019 12 08 075532

Has anyone tried it, and does it cause any issues with eGPU?

It fixed it on my trash can. Now I can reboot to MacOS from the app instead getting a generic error.

The bootcamp control panel now shows the macOS drive for rebooting into it. It didn't install drivers allowing file explorer access like it used to around 2013 however.

Hasn't affected anything with my egpu setup as far as I can tell.

That's a big download. Wonder what's in it?

The changelog said that this upgrade is for the XDR Display and Boot Issue:

BootToMacUpdate WASU 6.1.9.2019

ProXDRDisplayUpdate WASU 6.1.10.2019

It installed to me the AMD Adrenalin drivers version 19.30.01.33, Driver video AMD 26.20.13031.15006. The Valley benchmark results are worst (previous score 4512):

Annotazione 2019 12 15 100845

Better in Geekbench 4 (before 287431):

Cattura2

I noted that the BIOS of my MacBookPros has been changed...

If I check the current AMD drivers for my 5700XT I see that are the version 19.12.2, Driver video AMD version 26.20.15002.61

I noticed on MBP 13” 2018 that the last Apple device that didn’t have a driver now has one. No other obvious changes, in my case it didn’t touch the AMD drivers I had installed 19.12.1.

Any time I have successfully got my EGPU up and running, any subsequent Bootcamp update that sneaks its way in has killed my whole setup.  I end up having to erase the partition and re-install Bootcamp and start from scratch.  It's the worst.  I wish I could find the update and rip it out of the system, after the hours I've poured into getting this delicate balance set up.  So pissed.

Edit: Well as often happens I did a Windows update and restart and things are working, benchmarking now with Ungine Valley and got a score of 4240 at 101 fps, so thats good.  Apparently Bootcamp never installed an update, despite the Windows update history saying it did two days ago.  Just to be safe I told it not to do the next Bootcamp update.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
