looking for some serious help here. this is going to be a long description, but my main goal is literally to play halo with my friends on steam lol

im a photographer, so this would be a dream to have my macbook for work then boot into windows to game. also building a pc just to game wouldnt make financial sense for me, being that im not an avid gamer.

im completely new to all of this and learning whatever i can day by day. with that being said, im pretty sure the graphics card is compatible with the breakaway box. ive got everything hooked up and booted into windows. where i go from there is completely unclear to me. ive put alot of money into this and dont really have a choice of turning around at this point. any help is greatly appreciated, thank you !!

setup : Macbook pro mid 2014 15" 2.5GHz i7 w/ a free windows 10 version installed through bootcamp.

eGPU: Sonnet eGFX breakaway box 550

GPU: powercolor fighter amd radeon rx 6600

bought the apple thunderbolt 3>2 adapter and apple thunderbolt 2 cable

@chillestburger222, Welcome to the forum.

Definitely check out the build guides for your 2014 MacBook Pro as there are many examples.

Hi!

I am a newbie eGPU user and already feel the pain. )

Bought Razer Core X Chroma and Radeon RX6700XT (my bad, it is not supported yet in Mac OS) and trying to make them work at least in Bootcamp.

The box itself seems to be working in MacOS (I can use mouse and keyboard connected to it), but when loading in Bootcamp it stops working (although working even on selection screen where I choose disk to boot).

When I connect usb-c cable to Macbook, eGPU lights up, but windows don't try to find any devices - just nothing happens. USB hub also not working.

Can it be related to the fact that I have windows installed on the external SSD (bootcamp fails to install it on internal drive)?

Or that I use Windows 10H2 and not 1903 build as suggested?

Hi,

very new to this and could use some major help.

my specs are: 2017 Macbook pro 15" 3.1 ghz i7 16 gb ram built in Radeon Pro 560

and a sonnet egfx breakaway box 550 with a powercolor fighter amd radeon rx 6600

upgraded to monterey and the egpu works just fine when running on mac os. BUT thinks get sketchy when i run windows 10 in bootcamp. when i boot up with the egpu on nothing happens on the monitor i have and the fan just starts spinning like crazy after awhile. im not sure whats going on and shut it down after a couple of mins out of fear of frying the logic board or something.

anyone have any idea what i can do to get this to work ? ive watched a bunch of videos and searched all over this site, but im having a really tough time finding a resolution. not the most tech savvy person, and literally doing this just so i can do some casual gaming on steam with some friends.

thanks for reading !!! i appreciate any kinda help.
