Hello, I'm getting a code 12 on a Power Color Red Devil 5700 XT. I'm unable to install AMD or Bootcampdrivers.com latest drivers. I get error 207 at the end of the Adrenalin 2020 installer.

I replaced the pci.sys file with the 1903 v1 .30 file and after booting got a notice about AMD Xconnect and see a Radeon software item in the tray. When I open that it says no AMD card detected.

I'm currently on 1903, I've gone up to 1909, but not down to 1809 yet. I'm using builds from this site https://tb.rg-adguard.net/public.php with the setup file inside. The process takes at least 20 min to complete and restarts multiple times. I've never actually seen the build number change in Winver. Right now I'm at 1903 build .778. I'm not sure I'm downgrading properly or if it's even necessary with a successful pci.sys transplant.

I've never had any video come out of the eGPU when not in Catalina, save for a single frame of the macOS login screen it seemed to have held onto. I have the eGPU plugged into the TB3 port nearest the Ethernet port. I've heard that is the best, and others say the best is the one by the HDMI. Can anyone confirm that?

It is necessary to remove the eGPU TB3 at boot or the iGPU wont work, along with the eGPU of course. I plug it back in before fully logging in when doing driver install attempts.

I've also downloaded and installed the latest Bootcamp Windows Support files.

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

Update: Well after several hours I miraculously got it working. I'm not even 100% sure what it was but I did disable the two PCI ports in device manager along with a full driver wipe with DDU in addition to replacing the PCI file with the 1903 version again. Hopefully I don't have booting issues though. I haven't gone back to Mac yet.

Update 2: After a reboot it's back to how it was with code 12... It never passed the booting video to the eGPU(Catalina update) or was able to boot windows with the eGPU connected.

@veiss, Go back to 1903 18262.30 is the most reliable way to keep the eGPU working in Boot Camp.

What's the best way to go back to it? Whenever I run the setup file for a version the build number doesn't update.

@itsage, My 2018 MBP 15 works fine with win10 .295 (win updates disabled) and bootcampdrivers.com for amd drivers. Thing is I’m on Catalina 10.15.1 which is buggy. I want to upgrade Catalina but nervous this will break bootcamp re egpu (I don’t need the PCI.sys swap now).
Do you know if Catalina upgrade will affect a setup that works perfectly on 10.15.1? Thanks.

I have been looking around for awhile and decided on the Core X Chroma

Works perfectly in MacOS, but as kind of expected have a few issues in Windows 10 Bootcamp.

I have followed and looked at many threads, videos and articles, however still having the dreaded Code 12 error.

Can anyone point me to a definitive post on how to resolve the issue.

Exact Specs

MacBook Pro 13 TouchBar 2018

Windows 10 1909 (this I see could be an issue)

Core X Chroma + AMD 5500xt 8GB

I have previously setup a friend with the same MacBook on a Mantiz Venus with a 580. He also had the Code 12 error. This was resolved (if memory serves), to disable the rightsize TB ports. Cant seem to find this article now.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Hi!

(Link to my Notion Documentation - With images and easier to read --

https://www.notion.so/nxtversion/Copy-of-2019-iMac-Bootcamp-eGPU-c955c3674eee409197be2d77cb5bd03b )

I am stuck on my Bootcamp eGPU setup, and am coming to the internet for some assistance. Basic rundown on what I have done:

Hardware:

- 2019 21.5" iMac

- Akitio Note (1st Gen) Enclosure

- AMD 5700XT

Plugins:

- Active Thunderbolt 3 plugged in closes to USB Ports

- USB Keyboard/Mouse plugged in USB Flashdrive

I have been following this guide:

https://egpu.io/boot-camp-egpu-setup-guide/

So it begins...

  1. Installed Windows 10 Pro via Bootcamp
    1. Version 1909 Build 18363.778
  2. Use BootCampDrivers to remove and install AMD Drivers
    1. Using 2020 Drivers: Adrenalin April 2020 Red Gaming Edition
    2. https://mega.nz/file/xBxxFaJC#lJNxFZ2ZuniGf-DO19dJDUDNJu6lMPDF2MSkbTGlUZw
  3. Setup USB EFI Bootloader
    1. Using automate-eGPU EFI v1.0.5
      1. https://egpu.io/forums/mac-setup/automate-egpu-efi-egpu-boot-manager-for-macos-and-windows/
  4. Boot into Windows using the USB EFI Bootloader
    1. The automate-eGPU interface gave error "eGPU not detected", however it does display the GPU under "GPU(s)"
      1. Confirmed by booting up with no eGPU plugged in
      2. 3 GPU's Listed: Intel, Internal OEM, eGPU
  5. Logged into Windows
    1. The iMac Screen is split into two
    2. All GPU's are recognized AMD RX 5700XT & Radeon Pro 555X
    3. Code 12 on eGPU 5700XT
      1. Resolving Code 12
        1. Disable "Intel(R) PCIe Controller (x16) 1901 containing the internal GPU
          1. Internal Screen flickers like a mad man, and reboots
          2. automate-eGPU EFI Interface still no eGPU detected; but its listed under GPUs
          3. Screen has returned to one screen (not split)
          4. Still receiving Code 12
        2. Disable more resources:
          1. High Definition Audio Controller
          2. Intel(R) PCI Express Root Port #2 - A339 (Ethernet Port)
          3. 2 x "PCI Express Downstream Switch Port" - Listed under the same PCI Express Root Port #5 as the 5700XT eGPU — This disables the other Thunderbolt Port while maintaining the eGPU
          4. Intel(R) Serial IO UART Host Controller A328 & A329 — Bluetooth I think?
          5. At this point, I think thats everything I can disable in the PCI Bus
        3. Reboot! Same Code 12

And thats where im at!

@sbiribari, If MacOS recovery is forcing you to reinstall boot camp, you might need to disable secure boot by following instructions here:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208330

Core X Chroma + RTX 2080 Windows 10 1909

@ningauble77, I tried to disable it as a guide but restarting the macbook pro and selecting the usb stick with efi file starts recovery osx. am I wrong? it would be nice to be able to use the 580 also on bootcamp.
