Hi all (my first posting on egpu.io),

For the love of Dog, I´m pulling my hair on this one. Now trying my third RTX 2080/2080 Ti card, but getting the same full screen freeze (the rest of OS seems to keep rolling just fine), with two eGPUs, on two laptops.

Any ideas?

[Edit; SOLVED] use DDU! -> guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Set up(s);

- Windows Pro 10 (the very latest; v1809, build 17763.379)
- Asus ROG GL502VM w/ internal 1060
- Alienware R4 17" w/ internal 1080
- Razer Core X
- *Alienware Graphics Amplifier
- 2080 Ti (Gigabyte Windforce OC, triple fan)
- 2080 (Palit, dual fan)
- Nvidia 419.35

*I should add that the AGA box and Alienware worked flawless with Asus Strix 1070 OC.

BTW, off topic; Great to see this site and forum, there was nothing like this when I built my first eGPU mid-2016; a bent open Akitio Thunder, Asus Strix 1070 OC, Win 8, MacBook Pro 2014; https://instagram.com/p/BNqD4vyB5C2

How did you install the drivers for the eGPU? If you let Windows automatically install the eGPU, it's most likely the culprit of screen freeze. What I found to work best is DDU to remove all graphics drivers and disable Win10 auto-install feature. Once you do that, download the latest Nvidia drivers and install while both dGPU and eGPU are present in Device Manager.

That totally worked. Already had DDU installed, but never needed to use it before. Thanks a million!

Enjoy your eGPUs! Those are some nice systems. We'd love to see build guides for them when you have a chance.
