Hi to all,

please help if you can. I'm trying to install my new eGPU for the first time. So I have HP ZBOOK G5 (Intel 8th gen + Quadro P1000 ) and Mantiz Satrun Pro with GTX 1070ti card.

After hardware installation I followed up one of the build guides from one post here - basically it was - install Nvidia latest drivers before removing any old ones, reset the laptop and enjoy Smile . After doing this, my laptop is reporting new device in Device manager as "Base system device with" code 28 - no drivers installed. I've updated the BIOS, TB3 is enabled in  BIOS so I don't know what else to try.

Many thanks on any advice ,

cheers,

Karlo

@karlo_hictaler, Download and run DDU to remove all Nvidia graphics drivers. Make sure to open OPTIONS in DDU and disable Windows auto search and install drivers for new devices. Connect the eGPU once the computer restarts and manually install the latest Nvidia drivers.

Hi itsage,

thanks for the tip. I found the problem by browsing all night Smile ...

The problem is in TB3 drivers for HP ZBOOK Studio G5. HP had some bug in those. BIOS is saying that TB3 is okey, but windows doesn't recognize TB devices so it can't pair Nvidia drivers with it.

After updating BIOS and Intel TB3 drivers/software everything works almost as it should. I still have small issue, so maybe somebody can help.

When I disconnect eGPU , ZBOOK  continue to work with integrated graphic and it unable to use Quadro P1000 dGPU. Even after restart. The only way is to uninstall it and install it again.

Any tip regarding that ?

Thanks in  advance,

Karlo
