iMac internal screen black after connecting Vega 64 eGPU in BootCamp. Any suggestions?

I'm having trouble getting my new Vega 64 card to play nice with BootCamp on my iMac. My setup is this: iMac 5K 2014, R9 M295X dGPU, Razer Core X w. RX Vega 64, Windows is 1809.
I've previously had a GTX 960 working with BootCamp. Now with the Vega 64, I plug it in, it installs the drivers, the screen blips as normal when installing graphics drivers, but it stays black. Windows is still running in the background; I can hear the usual noises. I can reboot the system with the eGPU still plugged in and it gets to the login, but the screen is still black. Removing the eGPU before boot lets it work as normal. External displays don't seem to even get detected.

I've tried DDU to blitz the drivers. I've downloaded and installed the latest drivers for the dGPU from BootCampDrivers. I've tried both the BootCampDrivers driver and the standard AMD driver for the Vega 64. I have also gone through the Large Memory error 12 fix just in-case.

Does anyone have any suggestions where to go from here or is it just not going to work? Anyone had similar issues?

I had the same problem with my iMac pro - couldn't resolve it in the end. Had to re-do bootcamp.
