Hi,

I followed the guide for 15" 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, Sonnettech Breakaway Box 350, and AMD Radeon 580 RX - https://egpu.io/bootcamp-setup-guide-tb3-macbook-pro/

Amazing. Incredible. It works, and it's fantastic.

However, now if I want to install new AMD Drivers or software. I get an error that no hardware was found. This is strange considering X-Connect launches at startup, and in the AMD Settings App lists the 580 RX GPU and whichever display is connected to it.

I wish there were a way to force install AMD Software, without the need to have it autodetect current hardware at time of installation.

Thanks,

Ben

Yes, there’s a way to override hardware check in the installer. Take a look at these instructions. You can also use DDU to uninstall the current graphics drivers prior to installing new ones but it’s not necessary.

wow.

thank you itsage.

i have updated drivers. and significantly more features as a result.
this is really good. like.

not only can i play games, with a better experience, like Hellblade, or Forza 4 for example.

-But for actually working, and accomplishing crucial things like using Substance Painter.
I can now use.

Before I was getting an error message when launching to update drivers or face issues like stability bugs etc.

Cheers,
-Ben
