What am I doing wrong? GTX 1070 eGPU setup underperforming.
So, I've had my GPU (GTX 1070) and my enclosure (Sonnet Breakaway Box 350) running a nice setup with my Laptop via thunderbolt 3 (Asus Zenbook Pro UX580) for a while. From the get-go, the performance was a massive improvement but not great for a GTX 1070 so I put it down to the inherent loss when running an eGPU setup and the fact that I didn't have an external monitor.
Months later now I have my external monitor (from which I saw an improvement from 1200 to 1471 in Heaven). When looking at other eGPU build guides, for example, Tunatoro's I can see that their heaven numbers are roughly FPS: 78.8 and Score: 3295 as opposed to my FPS: 58 and Score: 1462. I wonder if there is anything wrong with my setup or god-forbid the GPU itself. I am especially curious about whether this has something to do with PCH chip or even the enclosure.
Here is some information, ask if you need any more:
Intel® Core™ i7-8750H processor
dGPU: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti
MSI GTX 1070
Any help is appreciated!
@pb151, From what I have seen in your post, Tunatoro don't mention tessellation in Uginine settings whereas tessellation is set to "extreme" in yours. May be you might run again the test without tessellation which has a big impact on performances...
@ghislain4, I matched his benchmark settings, lo and behold they came out with the same result. Thanks for simple advice, I could have fret over this for a while!
