Blender Mac - Cycles GPU rendering development for Metal
It’s official. After dropping support a couple years ago, Blender will be bringing Cycles GPU rendering back to MacOS in a future build.
Apple will provide financial resources and engineering support needed to build a Metal backend allowing Cycles to utilize Apple’s graphics API.
Meanwhile, Redshift’s MacOS Metal GPU renderer is officially out and supported by Maxon.
Conversely, OTOY’s Octane X for Metal public beta releases remain paused well short of the finish line.
Maybe Blender and Apple’s joint effort will produce results before Octane X is even officially released…
