Did some benchmarks in my test system with the 16 beta 2.
What I found is a huge improvement (+69% to +80%) in GPU performance with a AMD Vega Frontier Edition in an eGPU enclosure. Test system is OS X 10.14.4 running DR 16 beta2 over DR 15.3.1 with Metal driver.
Numbers are fps playing in realtime with the node active.
Tests are done in 2017 MBP 15" 3.1Mhz with Os X 10.14.4 with the Resolve Standard Candle Benchmark. Reference here: https://liftgammagain.com/forum/index.php?threads/resolve-standard-candle-benchmark.3718/
DavinciScore

Interesting also that running OS X 10.13.6 with DR 15.3.1 the fps are in the middle. So seems that in High Sierra with that HW configuration is better not to upgrade to OS X 10.4 until final release of DR 16 will come out.

Thank you for these tests. They are very encouraging, especially since I've found egpu performance to be disappointing with my Vega 64 on DR 15 on 10.14. My internal Radeon Pro 580 is sometimes significantly faster than the Vega 64. Very much looking forward to this new release.

2016 Razer Blade (GTX1060) => PowerColor eGPU + EVGA GTX 980 TI FTW

This is very interesting? How is this on catalina?

Also: what source codec/resolution have you been working on?

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
