I found these external PSUs on AliBaba, they are with 12V (like Dell DA-2 220W) i want to know if they will work with AKiTiO Thunder3, Thunder2 and Node Light like DELL DA-2

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/12V-25A-EXTERNAL-POWER-SUPPLY-300W_1333572727.html (300W without Fan)

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/220v-50-60hz-ac-input-12V_1628303275.html - (300W with fan)

(when the insider temperature up to 50 degrees, the fan will automatically start...)

The reason is because Dell DA-2 220W can't run stable - ZOTAC GTX 1080 mini 8GB!

Any 12v source with sufficient current delivery will work. There is nothing special about the Dell DA-2 except for two things:

1) The ~10-12$ price of it on ebay makes it really cheap to get and there's a million of them out there.

2) The pin-out is known and easy to adapt for our needs.

Want to output [email protected] out of an old system on the cheap? Read here.
Give your Node Pro a second Thunderbolt3 controller for reliable peripherals by re-using a TB3 dock (~50$).

Another solution would be the power supplies that's popular within the RC and battery charging world. (Yes I'm into that as well)

Miners seems to run them as well.

The HP DPS-460, DPS-750 or the massive DPS-1200 power supplies for $15-30 each.

Temp controlled and deliver 12 volt and 40-100 A!

The relative compact size is as impressive as well with 40x85x200 mm

I agree with @username, i would prefer using any good pc psu or a Dell DA, modded to use only the 12v power delivery, with a custom case.

I would avoid any already build chinise psu like the one you posted, they are poorly reliable.

If you would build yourself a psu, rather look for the built in pcb itself, you can look at good already known devices with a 12v psu and find on aliexpress the fully mounted psu pcb spare part.

The Powercolor Devil Box uses such a 1U server PSU as seen here. Great for small spaces. Only problem is their small size means they use a small, and often noisy  high-rpm cooling fan.

What do u think about the seasonic tfx 350 watt or about the bequest tfx 300? It is also possible to reproduce the pin out of dell da 2 in order to upgrade the systems that use it.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

Like I said above: Any 12v power supply will work as long as its cabling can be adapted to our needs, and excess cabling (if non-modular) can be snipped off. The TFX PSUs will also work just fine. Note that the TFX units operate a dual-rail system, so load will need to be balanced between the rails correctly, or the GPU won't get enough power.

Nowadays the majority of  high quality psu except for sfx are multiple rail because they are sli ready.... I agree that a single rail is better for egpus but these tfxs have got autobalance.
