I just ordered a sf600 platinum based on this thread. Thank you all! My PSU was also too loud... Replaced the case fan with Silent Wings 3.
Mac Mini 2018 (i5/16gb/500gb) + Razer Core X (Silent Wings 3 120mm, Corsair SF600 Platinum PSU) + Sapphire Nitro+ 5700XT Special Edition
I have successfully installed a Corsair SF750 based on this thread. So much smaller, I didn't expect that, but it fits inside very nicely, even if it can't be fixed using screws.
It's rock silence now, thanks !
The SF600 Gold has been out of stock everywhere for quite some time now, but the platinum and the SF750 are too expensive for me. Do you think a SF450 would work for a 5700XT and MBP 15" 2018? I'm worried that it would draw too much power at idle and the SF450 wouldn't be silent.

That's why I've bought a SF750, to be sure it's silent. At the same power consumption, as you said, the SF450 will probably be more noisy, as the semi-passive mode in expressed in percent of the capacity.
@kisscoool18, an SF750 would be nice, but it's way too expensive for me, guess I'll just wait for the SF600 to come back in stock

Hi,
just wanted you guys let you know, that I just successfully replaced my Razer Core X PSU with an SilverStone NJ450-SXL, passive PSU.

I know this might be kind of an overkill, but I need a near silent DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) PC in my home studio. Together with my Mac mini 2018/2020 i7 and my MP 2013 this combination is perfect for my purpose.
The PSU fits kind of, due to the small form factor SFX-L, but needs some slight bending away the fan holder part that usually holds the old PSU. Some of the lower modular cables won't fit otherwise. Back plate fits ok, maybe 1mm too high inside the case, but with a little force the power connector and power switch fits nicely. As a case fan I use a Be Quiet Shadow Wing 2 I had wooping around...
It's completely silent and delivers 450 watts which is more than enough for my RX580 which maxes out on 250ish watts, Geekbench 5 Compute test, peak.
After the usual initial fan spin up, it's dead silent...will add pics from the back plate the other day...temps are ok in my 23c room.
Disclaimer: this may not be the best solution for hours of high end triple A gaming with constant high power drain, though 😉

Hello guys,
So far, for somebody who is a noob, this post has been really helpful for me. I have recently bought the Razer Core X and it works perfectly on my MacBook Pro 15 2015, however, the noice coming from the PSU is also driving me crazy. I am very interested in the Corsair SF750 but I am not confident enough to purchase it, since I have no experience in replacing such parts and I can't seem to find any tutorials regarding this replacement. Can anybody recommend me any resource that shows how to replace a PSU in a Razer Core X?
I also have a second question. Since I am using my egpu with purge-wrangler, will changing the PSU require me to install different drivers or use other options from purge-wrangler?

.Thanks for this such an excellent post! Keep up!

.@fishmonkey, Hey Im going to buy the SF750. Will this change in PSU still allow for the 100W to pass through to charge the Mac?

I see no reason not to. It works great on my Razen laptop.
