What is this cable? EXP GDC

As shown in the video. He seems to be connecting it via the HDMI? port with some kind of adapter. If not...How does it work?

It would be nice to be able to connect and disconnect without opening the laptop everytime.

The HDMI extender + cable he's using at 0:58 in his video , then attaching to the HDMI port on his laptop is misleading. The HDMI cable used on the EXP GDC is used for PCIe transport and therefore never attaches to the HDMI port. Instead, it's used to attach with it's custom cable to the mPCIe, M.2 or expresscard port all of which are different packaged PCIe ports.
