@abdullah_khan, I see. The Jeyi Thunderdock should be able to work with ADT-Link R43SG M.2 eGPU adapter. Besides the Jeyi power adapter for the Thunderdock, you'd need another power supply/adapter for the graphics card itself and the R43SG.

This Jey thunderdock has two TB3 ports, and one type C port. this type C port is used to give power to this Dock and also the SSD or M.2 interface of R43SG right? and if in future i use with ThunderBolt3 port, will I still need this 20V adapter?I mean TB3 itself can provide power right?
@abdullah_khan, Yes, the type C port gives power to the dock and the M.2.
The dock requires an external power supply since it takes more power than a TB3 port can provide - remember, the dock has a downstream Thunderbolt port that needs to provide the same power as the host Thunderbolt port would provide to the dock.
The dock needs power for all of these ports:
1) 15W downstream Thunderbolt port
2) 8.25W M.2 NVMe
3) 4.5W USB 3.1 gen 2 port
4) 1.5W DisplayPort 1.4
One person made a comment that a 60W power supply did not work. So you need a 20V (100W) power supply. 100W-30W = 70W which is enough for charging a laptop with 60W.
Only some hosts have Thunderbolt ports that can provide more than 15W.
Hi guys, so I have a Dell XPS laptop which supports thunderbolt 3, I have a nVidia GTX 1060 GPU, and a 600w power supply to try make an eGPU over TB3. I additionally have a PCIE x16 Riser card. I wanted to know if I could make an eGPU setup like this.
But instead of buying a PCIe x16 to TB3 extension cable like this, could I use a regular x16 riser card then run a USB A to USB A cable - from the riser card's USB output into one of these, which is very cheap and then insert the M.2 side from that extender card into a normal thunderbolt 3 SSD enclosure from Amazon and then obviously plug that into the TB3 port on my laptop?
I mean this should in theory work as it is basically the same as other setups, just using a normal riser card and an M.2 to USB convertor, so basically just using more steps. The thing I'm worried about is that there might be too much bottleneck because of all the different parts and pieces? Please let me know, as it will really help me out.
I just don't want to buy this and do it over the normal way because I already have other parts, and this is just another $70.
@joshua_atie, it should work if the USB of the M.2 has the same pinout required by the x16 riser. There's usually no bottle neck in having a bunch of pieces connected together unless one of the pieces has less PCIe lanes than the other. In this case, USB only has one lane so you'll loose three of the four lanes of M.2.

@joevt, Firstly, is that just a regular riser card, but with a m.2 output instead if USB output?
Secondly, what is a voltage regulator used for on GPU?
@joshua_atie, an M.2 connector for M key or Socket 3 is a standard PCIe connection having four PCIe lanes.
A riser that has a USB connector is using a USB cable to transmit PCIe - it is not a standard method to transmit PCIe - it works because USB 3.0 is 5 Gbps and PCIe 2.0 is 5 Gbps also - that just means the USB cable has sufficient quality for a PCIe 2.0 signal.
A PCIe slot has 3.3V and 12V to power a PCIe card such as a GPU.
A M.2 slot only has 3.3V.
An M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter has a floppy disk drive power connector for 12V. The power connector also has 5V. To get 3.3V, an M.2 to PCIe adapter can take 3.3V from the M.2 connector like this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32824366837.html
Or an M.2 to PCIe x4 adapter can take 5V from the floppy disk drive power connector and convert it to 3.3V using a voltage regular, like this one: https://www.microsatacables.com/catalog/product/view/id/1783
This is useful if the 3.3V of the M.2 slot (max 8.25W) is not sufficient for the PCIe slot (max 9.9W) or you want to power a PCIe card without connecting it to a PC.
Hi, I already have a 350W PSU and was wondering what I needed to make my own gpu. I researched a bit and I think I need a thunderbolt 3 to PCLE thingy? I am not sure if that is what I need. If so, can someone attach a link for what I need? Thanks?
