What I'm about to say is unofficial, just my speculation from what I'm seeing.

We've released the Node Lite with a new c-step architecture that currently only works with generic PCIe boards and some GPUs (we wrote it is not compatible with GPUs because it is still same logic as Thunder2 PCIe Box). More support is still being worked on. We just released Node Lite early because there has been a high demand from other industries (non-GPU industries if you didn't catch that 😛 ahaha)

We're working closely with Intel to change things with eGPUs and PCIe Boxes. More info coming in the future. I want to estimate a new update will be coming our way in possibly a month. So if you can't get a certain card to get to work right now, it's possible it will work in the near future.

Any updates folks? @DanKnight?

Anyone got their hands on a Node Lite yet? Be good to find out if folks can get it working as an eGPU in macOS (10.13) and W10… It’s my dream set up if it works in macOS and W10…

I just ordered my Node Lite, it was still smaller than the Aorus and i didn't need such a good GPU.  I have a HHHL GPU which is WX 2100 GPU (& Quadro P400 (30W), Quadro K620 (44W), NVS 310 (19.5W)) this is less than 35W and only 8x (I think that less than 16x are not even in spec to use over 25W).  In theory this acutally meet the specifications outlined by AKiTiO.  I have bought the 120W PSU.   I have AsRock and macmini with TB ports.  I will get a 1050/1060 later to finalise my setup.

I received my Node Lite and have been working with it for the past couple of days. I am constantly running into a Code 43 issue.

My setup: 2016 MBP 15" RP460 + Node Lite w/ 1050 ti

When I first go through the setup process ( https://egpu.io/forums/builds/late-2016-15-macbook-pro-rp450-gtx107032gbps-tb3-aorus-gaming-box-win10-itsage/paged/1/) everything works perfectly with the latest Nvidia drivers. My problem comes after Windows 10 automatically updates and restart, that's when I get the Code 43.

Other solutions I've tried:

  • w10 install, update to the latest, go through the egpu setup process
  • w10 install, egpu setup, update, get code 43, uninstall all Nvidia drivers with DDU, install Nvidia drivers

I've tried both ways with downloading the drivers directly from Nvidia and going through Nvidia geforce experience. The setup only works before the updates. I tried looking for solutions or other posts with the same problem but couldn't find any. If anyone can lead me to a thread with a solution, explanation, or help I would be grateful.

Nice updated folks, good to hear the Node Lite can actually be used as an eGPU...

@fivefoot13 have you tired in macOS? Would be very interested to hear how/if things work that side. Also, my knowledge is very very very limited (pretty much none) so this may sound stupid - but how long have you tried to get things working in W10? I put a 1060 into my Thunder3 over the weekend and it didn't work at first (error 12 amongst other things) but after a few mins and a restart Windows sorted it all out - downloaded the correct drivers, no longer had error 12, all working perfectly, I had just started reading up on error 12 fixes when I noticed it had disappeared.

I don't know why I didn't think of this probably because I didn't know, but I have disabled the auto updates. Everything seems to be working correctly and Windows can't update. Hopefully this will be the solution to my problem.

@eightarmedpet I haven't tried macOS. I've been trying for about a week and getting a code 43 was my biggest problem. I followed the setup I linked in the previous post. It was the clearest set of directions that was recent and successful.

Hi, I happened to be tampering with a MBP and Node Lite.

My Mac is a late 2016 13" model with touch bar.

I had been successfully getting a 1060 working with this MBP(Akitio thunder 3) inboot camp, but Node Lite with 1050ti crashed win10 the first time I connected, after some attempts I was able to get Nvidia driver installed and got code 43 just like fivefoot 13. Difference being Win10 would crash moments after every time Node lite is connected and has the 1050ti in it(won't when box is empty).

Answer is simple for the current High Sierra beta version, the system recognized the Node Lite but not the 1050ti(turns out Akitio's site didn't lie about Nvidia cards in Node Lites).

I have ordered a rx550 so I can see if AMD cards make a difference in this case;), but it will take at least 4 days.

Will keep my eyes on this thread for your updates! Although it looks like it's still possible to get the Thunder 3 working in 10.13 with some kext edits...
