Magstor has some in stock with free shipping. You can also use a discount code at checkout for $35 off - REDNODE35. They ordered a small batch and when gone, they are gone. This is where I bought mine. He had included shipping in the checkout and I emailed him and he credited it back.

Nice to know!! Too far from Europe though. Hopefully we could have here some deals too. It is really anoying getting TB3 eGPU enclosures here, other that the Asus one... (Apart from the Akitio Thunder 3, which is not an eGPU perse).

That is great Akitio Node shipping out.  I'm wondering that Akitio press release about upcoming new model in NAB Show.  As they mention Custom Node thunder3.  I'm wondering this new hardware over Akitio Node or will be the same ? I have ordered it from amazon sold by Akitio.  waiting for shipping out.  Make me want to cancel and wait to see what going on NAB 2017

For me the price is a killer feature. I think that the new Akitio Node Pro will cost more than the Node and his performance will be very close to the Akitio node. I think it will be more good looking and with some ports behind it (USB, Ethernet, etc...) it will power your laptop.. I'm not interested to this features, I want a good egpu at honest price!

Interesting. A diff of their specs reveals the AKiTiO Node Lite is a rebadged Thunder3 with Mac support. Only thing we don’t know is if it uses a TI82 or TI83 controller. The previous mistaken Displayport 1.1a spec for the Thunder3 now corrected. Thunderbolt3 is specced at Displayport 1.2

The press release at https://www.akitio.com/press-releases/2017/akitio-releases-node-lite-thunderbolt3-pcie-box tells us more details:

Brea, CA – April 21, 2017 / ‐‐ AKITIO today unveiled their new Thunderbolt 3 PCIe box, the Node Lite. The new Node Lite is an upgraded version of their popular Thunder2 PCIe Box. The Node Lite features PCIe Gen 3, which provides much improved performance when using new PCIe cards such as video capture cards, RAID cards, NVMe SSD storage, 10G and even 40G network cards. The Node Lite is compatible with both macOS and Windows computers, making it the ideal companion for the new 2016 MacBook Pro as well as new Thunderbolt 3 Windows PC’s.

The Node Lite features the same compact, tool-less design as the Thunder2 PCIe Box in a stylish new space gray outer case. Inside the case, the Node Lite features two Thunderbolt 3 ports, which can be used to daisy chain other Thunderbolt 3 devices as well as USB 3 Type-C devices. Another new addition is a DisplayPort version 1.2 port which can be used to connect an additional [email protected] monitor.

The Thunderbolt 3 Node Lite combines the full PCIe Gen 3 bandwidth with the 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3 interface, which drastically improves the performance of newer PCIe cards. The Thunderbolt 3 / USB 3 Type-C ports on the Node Lite also provide 15 watts of power to help charge the laptop that it is connected to.

“The Node Lite was designed for creative professionals and others who need to use a variety of PCIe cards”, said Richard Wright, VP of Sales & Marketing for Akitio. “The revolutionary 40Gb/s bandwidth is essential for many of the new video capture cards as well as new network cards used by professionals in the audio/video, photography and various other creative fields. The strong adoption of Thunderbolt 3 in the latest generation of PCs as well as the new Apple MacBook Pro line-up means that more and more people will be in need of external PCIe solutions such as the Node Lite.”

Pricing and Availability

The Akitio Node Lite will be available in late Q2’17 for $269. 99
The new Node Lite will be on display at the 2017 NAB Show in Las Vegas at Akitio booth SL13417

About Thunderbolt 3

Thunderbolt 3 brings Thunderbolt to USB-C at speeds up to 40 Gb/s, creating one compact port that does it all – delivering the fastest, most versatile connection to any dock, display, or data device. For the first time, one computer port connects to Thunderbolt devices, every display, and billions of USB devices. A single cable now provides four times the data and twice the video bandwidth of any other cable, while also supplying power.

About Akitio

Established in 1992, Akitio is an international company specializing in the design, development and manufacturing of premium, high-quality external computer storage products and accessories with an emphasis on Thunderbolt technology. Akitio is a leading Thunderbolt developer and currently have some of the fastest and highest capacity Thunderbolt products on the market. TI82 shoudn’t be confused with the Mac incompatibility as it is a PD controller chip with its own firmware. TI82 equipped DevilBox with an older DSL6540 firmware 17.17 (< 19.1) says also "unsupported" under Thunderbolt device tree, but works without "TB3 enabler" hack if booted from cold power state.

When I upgraded the Node firmware, I had to do it twice:

Very happy with my Akitio Node so far, big thanks to those who reported stock on amazon!

Quick question, Is it worth me stressing out about updating my Node? It's currently running 23.1FW which has the H2D connection speed issue, however I am running mine on a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2013 via Thunderbolt 2. Will I notice any performance drop because of this? From my understanding the answer is no due to the fact I am running it from a TB2 mac?

You don't have to do it twice. You just need to unplug the Thunderbolt cable and power cable, and plug it back in.

From my technical understanding, it should not make a difference. However, eGPU.io has always proved me otherwise. Has the forum confirmed this? @nando4 @itsage

That's pretty much the goal. If so, price will be higher. But all still in development so things may change.

The Node Pro will be on display at the show.

I believe TB3->TB2 adapter users are not affected. You can check your CUDA-Z ‘host-to-device’ numbers. If ~1200MiBs then is as expected.

The Node Lite uses a TI-83 chip so that Mac Support is included.

Thank you for posting this important specification detail.

The TI83 chipset and the Space Gray color raises the Node Lite‘s profile significantly amongst the large Mac eGPU.io community. Several users preferring it’s compact dimensions over competing offerings, including the Node, plus it’s daisy chaining port.

Is it really a Q3-2017 release? We could really do with it now or like Q2-2017. It’s now in the eGPU.io buyer’s guide.

If the only difference respect from the thunder 3 is just the change of the chipset from TI82 to TI83 and the colour... it is dissapointing...

Hopefully is much more than that ;).

When did you make your order?  I made mine March 8th, but it still hasn't shipped.  I'm wondering when I might get it.  Anyone else care to share when they ordered theirs and if they got it yet?

I ordered my Akitio Node the 16th of April on Adorama. They recently shipped a batch on the 25th of April and went straight to back order again. However, I wasn't included in that batch it appears. With no details from customer service of queue position or shipping estimates, it feels as though I'll never receive my Node. Assuming jefniro had waited 2+ months, I'd be devastated to have to wait so long when I could have ordered a Node from Magstor today when they were still in stock.

Thats great news!

Any chances for us with Macs and Thunder3 boxes to buy the Ti-83 logic card as a spare part for native Mac support? Even unofficially it would be a wonderful gift in a PM. @DanKnight

I can't seem to find anything from NAB about the Node Pro anywhere. Are they going to post anything on Twitter or Facebook about it? Press release?

No press releases no photos AFAICT. Know a couple people who went to NAB, they didn't see it either.

Weird.

Oh, I was hoping that a month was a very conservative estimation and would be able to get it sooner 🙁 At least that means more time to find a very good deal for a GTX 1070 😉

At last, B&H have updated their US$269 AKiTiO Node listing to specify new stock arriving on May-12.

International users take note.  Their shipping costs are quite low (eg: $37.50 shipping with DHL Express for Switzerland Europe).

Shipping to France is $74.50 with another $100 of duties and taxes so it may not be the best deal in europe.

On Macway.com it went from 349€ to 359€ but they still have 8 in stock ...
