OWC acquired AKiTiO this exact time last year. At CES 2020 next week OWC will showcase new Thunderbolt 3 products including an eGPU enclosure, the AKiTiO Node Titan. There's no further details or product images but my guess is it's a full size eGFX with the Node Pro built quality and one less TB3 port. I will be going to OWC suite to check it out in person.

New enclosures! Wahooo! Look forward to seeing some pics. I like OWC's external drives aesthetics, a vertically orientated enclosure that takes inspiration from the Thunderblade SSD would be amazing.

.@sevenup intel won’t license it as an eGPU if it has two ports, no idea why. The original node pro technically wasn’t an eGPU

Probably related to bandwidth. A single GPU takes it all. They likely don't want daisy chaining as a result.

.@jeverett, That article is inaccurate. I saw it in person and had a brief chat with OWC. In order for the AKiTiO Node Titan to be an eGFX, they remove the second Thunderbolt 3 port. The PSU has higher output but imo it's less useful than the original AKiTiO Node Pro.

Looks like they didn't increase feet height for the PSU to be able to breathe when 300W goes through it, this was the #1 source of noise for me when I bought my Node Pro, and even later when I upgraded the PSU to Corsair SF600.
And I'm using the second TB3 port on the Node Pro all the time - plugged a USB3 hub into it with the wired ethernet adapter so I get full wired network anytime I dock.
I agree, feels like a downgrade to me.
But the chassis is nice, the build quality is very good, and if they're reusing it now, maybe when a new revision of Thunderbolt comes out with more bandwidth, they'll stick with it.
