AORUS Gaming Box: What GPUs do work, and which ones do not?
@arzen, you mean where to find the pins on the board? It's documented for the PCIE slot. I just googled the pinout and counted the pins on the board.
For example you can find the pinout here https://pinouts.ru/Slots/pci_express_pinout.shtml
Sorry! I'm not being clear enough. I meant that once you knew pins #48 and #82 needed to be connected, how did you identify the spots UNDER the board where you needed to solder?
One of the two spots you soldered doesn't even look like it's part of the PCI-E slot, it kind of boggled my mind. I was hoping to learn how to trace the leads myself -- I figured you knew how and I could learn from you since you did it on your setup.
@arzen, surprisingly it is the pin on the slot! The rest are just not soldered to the board. I also used multimeter in the beeper mode to check the wiring from the slot contact to the soldering pad.
@sergey_lerg - Brilliant. That's a smart way to figure it out! Thanks!
Yeah! That position is so bizarre. I wonder why it was there...
@arzen, success！following your mentioned post, I was able to power the ITX version of 5700 every time I plug it in. thanks for the help! I attached some of the photos during my installation and modification. pictures were taken from different days.
@jisongkun, Great pictures! I'm glad it worked for you. Will you do benchmarks in MacOS for us?
Especially the Heaven benchmark for 1080p, Extreme presets.
@arzen, I ran a quick test, this is the result with no H2D optimized firmware, internal screen, and no HDMI or DP dummy plug inserted, so basically the worst-case senatorial. I heard adding dummy plugs will improve the result, I will update the result once I got some.
@jisongkun, would you mind adjusting the resolution to 1920x1080? That gives a good baseline vs the 580.
Your image shows you ran the test at 1600x900. Thanks!
Edit -- I just noticed you wrote internal screen. Do you have an external monitor you can test with? Results are really skewed with the internal display. 😉
@arzen, once I put the preset to the extreme, I am not able to adjust the resolution for some reason. it set to 900p automatically. I'm at work at the moment. I will update the result once I got home and hook it up to the external display.
Awesome. Good luck at work.
Also, your English is excellent -- you're living in Korea, right? Your username is very Korean, so I assumed you are Korean.
I live in Japan and used to live in Korea. Korea is awesome!
