Good afternoon!

It's been some time now that I've been tinkering with my eGpu setup, but here's the deal:

How does one get a funtioning egpu setup?

It works great when it does, but it annoys the crap out of me when it doesn't.

Some basic information about the situation.

So the card only works when I disable the intel igpu. The card itself overheated like instantly when trying to play fallout 4, after I let it automaticly undervolt itself all the power/heat issues were gone. So I thought to myself: "but what if I'm at my friends' house and don't have my second monitor hooked up?" That's where I'm stuck at the moment. The card works perfect but my intel UHD graphics kept using the hdmi port on the RX 56, no clue why, So after messing with it for 5 minutes it suddenly allowed me to run actual things on the second display using the gpu. but i'm mostly worried that it won't be a solving solution to what I'm facing.

Laptop specs:

Lenovo 13-IKB

i5 8250U (thermal throttling as always, even with throttlestop)

UHD 620

1x thunderbolt 3 ( funtional, recognized the box right away )

To summarize:

-The RX Vega 56 is only being used on my external monitor

-Can't even open radeon settings when I disable the iGPU

-The RGB controls on the gaming box are not even functional at all.

So my question is to you more experienced people on this forum, How do I get my Gaming Box to work properly?

How are you currently powering the RX Vega 56 inside the Gaming Box? The PSU and cooling system of the Gaming Box were never tested for the Vega 56 so you shouldn’t expect it to work properly without modifications on your own. It’s best to run DDU and remove all graphics drivers then install the latest Intel drivers for Intel UHD 620 iGPU and AMD drivers for RX Vega 56 eGPU.

I'm powering it with a double 6+2 conenctor through some adapter, by undervolting the card it will never exceed the actual limit on the psu.

About the drivers...

Well I already re-installed them like 3 times today, seems enough to me

But I still can't figure out how to let it accelerate the internal display without attaching an external one

And also the RGB on my gaming box isn't functional at all, So how do I get it to work?
