Thanks for the info, back in the shipping box it goes..... unfortunately like you said I need more juice to make this a 1 cable solution.  Build quality is beautiful to say the least but man what a let down on PD.

Thanks again.

Erick.

Do you know if there has been any changes to the availability of the y-adapter yet? I really this enclosure to pair with my 2018 Mac Mini but the Max GPU power of 300W is the only drawback for me. The Y-adapter is a clever solution but I wonder if they will even release it. Hope so!

Has there been any word on the dual power supply adapter? It's been a few months from release and I was thinking of switching over to AMD since those Nvidia drivers are no where in sight on macOS. I intend to run a Vega 64 or Radeon VII.

@chinsteig
What makes you think that the Radeon VII won't work with the Asus XG Station Pro?

I haven't seen any build guides using the Radeon VII in this enclosure so I'm not sure if the peak draw would overload it or not. It's pretty expensive in Canada still so I'm not sure I would be using it over the Vega 64 or going through the hassle of testing it.
This article has the peak draw in some applications up to 330w: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-vii-vega-20-7nm,5977-5.html
and this one has it pretty close to the limit: https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/amd-radeon-vii-16-gb-review,6.html

@chinsteig

Then you haven't looked enough.... 😉
Ok, in this build I put it into the Razer Core X, but it worked very well in the Asus XG Station Pro. There is at least another successful build with the Asus XG Station Pro + Radeon VII.

No, there is no peak draw overload, but performance wasn't as it was promised either.
330 W is absolutely no problem for the Asus Station, if you don't lose power elsewhere.

Hello ITSAGE, great review... I clearly arrived late to the party, how ever I'm interested in this eGPU and I couldn't help asking you about the "Y" power connector that you mention, do you know where can I get it or refer me to someone a Asus? I couldn't find it in there web page.

Thank you.

P.S. Any opinions on the Thor eGPU? https://thor-zone.com/egpu/

@Edgar, Unfortunately the Y power adapter was only an engineering sample. It never made it to production. Other than the RX Vega 64, the Asus XG Station Pro can handle most graphics cards. I'm actually using it with a WX 9100 on the 2013 Mac Pro and the single 330W power adapter works great with it.
