ASUS XG Station Pro Review - Cool, Calm and Collected
It can also be used to connect to a laptop and other pci-e peripherals, such as NVME disks or a raid controller. I tried to install a network card on 40Gb / s instead of a video card - it works
Armoury Crate starts at least but it doesn't detect the XG Station, tried installing the hotplug tool but that doesn't seem to affect anything. I was hoping you'd still have the file from the dead link (ASUS_AURA_V0.0.5.7_Win-10_64bit_ROG-XG-STATION2.zip) somewhere to share.
Maybe I will try contacting ASUS support, the support pages for the XGS 2 and XGS Pro both have nothing for Aura.
@lwf, I don't have the installer file saved unfortunately. It's best to contact ASUS Support and see what they say.
Here is a question, possibly a dumb one. My laptop has USB C PD port plus TB3, the XG station has a USB C I/O connection in addition to TB3 but will only pass on 15w from its external power supply. Would it be possible to pass the power from my charger through the XG Station's USB-C port and back out through its thunderbolt port to the laptop to create a single-cable solution?
I am hesitant to try this in case it might fry something. I would assume it either works or doesn't but I don't want to risk it.
@lwf, That will not work. The expansion port (USB-C) on the eGPU enclosure only provide downstream power delivery to a device connected to it.
Thanks, I knew it was too good to be true. I did try it (after researching USB-C power a bit), it didn't work, but nothing broke.
@itsage et al,
I have found the AURA software and made it work!
The version is 0.0.6.3. I got it from drivers.eu. In case it gets removed from there, I am linking the file here for any who may be interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZTYKv-AzttKPDXAGHo8CnWj4bYtOLLRH/view?usp=sharing
No idea why ASUS no longer hosts this. Probably not many XGS Pro users. I am so so satisfied with its quietness.
