Do Thunderbolt Enclosures also work with Capture Cards instead of GPUs?
Unfortunately I am not in need of a eGPU but I am desperately trying to find an elegant way to utilize a capture card meant for 4K60FPS connected to a laptop.
Now from my research i have found that even the capture card manufacturers only just started to release cards with USB 3.1 support that still does not seem to fully support 4K60FPS due to bandwidth.
Luckily, my gaming laptop MSIGT75VR 7RE has a Thunderbolt 3 port. I am still in the process of finding out, how many pcie lanes it actually supports.
Has anyone of you ever attempted to use a TB3 external PCIE case purely for using a capture card? If so, how were the results? And what enclosures do fit the Avermedia GC573 Live Gamer 4K or the Elgato 4k60 Pro?
Ive just seen this youtube channel shedding light on the possibility but I have yet to find any actual user experience with these setups.

HDMI 2.0 is only 14.4 Gbps max. Thunderbolt 3 can do 22 Gbps (PCIe 3.0 x4 is 31.5 Gbps). These capture cards do compression so the actual bandwidth is much less so the result can be saved to SATA SSD (6 Gbps)?
