Does anyone know how to setup a Nvidia 2080 on virtual box? I'm currently stuck trying to get virtual box to discover the thunderbolt port...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@avocet, if you want to use eGPU in Windows Virtualisation on MacOSX, you should use:
-Parallels
-Wine

I used both with good success.

VmWare cannot not accelerate 3D Display and I highly doubt VirtualBox can do it. It would be a first, if VirtualBox can do something VmWare cannot.

Thanks for your advise Oliver. I'm intending to use it for deep learning - I assume the same holds true?

This depends on the application. If the application needs direct access to the GPU it won't work in a visualisation unfortunately. For DirectX and OpenGL it works (until a certain version).
