External PSU for the Razer Core V2
On my board I can confirm the 5 pin an 2 pin connectors are not going anywhere.
It likely a debug thing. It would be interesting to see what's the voltage on those pins when the PSU is plugged but not forced on. You have to look for 5v, because when the PSU is off, only the 5vsb is provided (does it, in your case?). If you find a pin to 5v, you can try to pull it down to ground through a 10k resistor.
Here an old picture of my mod. Seems there is some electronics on the side to control the LED, the fans... and probably the case opening detector. So in an optimal usage, the "To LED" connector should be the one carrying the open/close case signal.
I've made another observation: there are two little components near the 12v power connectors on the motherboard. I would make the hypothesis those are measuring the voltage of the individual connectors. So you should provide 12v to the other 12v connector. Then try a manual poweron and see what happend.
Do you have a multimeter btw?
@lefuturdelavenir, would you please share the pinout with me? I bought the board only and planning to install an ATX power supply for it . I got that board from Aliexpress, it is the Razer core x chroma
@adam_ahmed, I have bought the same board and am trying to get it working. It isn't straightforward as the mainboard expects a power on signal from a magnetic switch in the Core case. The discussion is on this thread.
You got it from Ali Express? I'm not sure if you're getting the board from the Core X Chroma, he did falsely list them so but they were from Core X (ATX connector, 1 PCIe slot) and Core v2 (Proprietary connector, 2 PCIe slots)
There is also another which does not have the PCI-e 4x, which would possibly not have the same issues to power.
@wpwp, I got it from this exact seller you mentioned , the ad was clearly mentioning core z chroma, just few days ago he update the ad to core v2 x chroma!! The photos are for V2 though. As soon as the package arrive I’ll update you guys. But if it will not be the core x chroma board I’ll open dispute in Aliexpress! The core x is the only one will work right away for my Mac Pro late 2013.
