The early 2000s called, they want their 3.5" IDE to USB box back 🙂
That said, it doesn't look too bad on the desk and it seems quite small, which is always nice.

Did I read that right? 45 watts?

It's 45W of Type-C charging power, not a 45W PSU. We don't know what PSU it is using yet. Enough for an XPS 13 but Macbooks expecting 60W may have issues.
The low 45W limit for Type-C charging hints they are pushing the limit on an External Brick, maybe 200W? The connector looks like the 330W on some Clevos however.

It seems that there's a 1060 mini as well from kfa2/galax for the Asian market

I'll send them a mail and ask about the TB and 1060 card.

Galax replied to me about the eGPU and told me it was still under development and asked me to wait for them to release some more information about it.
They do do have the possibility to male it very small if they want to as they could develop or modify a graphics card of their own after their needs.
Nice, hopefully we will see more like this especially if they are cheaper than full blown docks.

Has anyone got their hands on this yet?
http://www.galax.com/en/galax-snpr-external-graphics.html
They’ve collaborated with Silverstone. Metallic casing appeals me much more than plastic. There seem to be two standard size fans. Unique cooling solution. I am afraid the GPU is not replaceable.
I found a review:
Only 1.38kg, 230W external PSU
KFA2 variant, Glax's European brand, different product code 60N0000000TK
Goalque, it's 1.38kgs without the 230W PSU which tends to weigh around 1.1kg. So total weight is ~2.48kgs, around that of the Sonnet Puck RX570 or Aorus Gaming Box. I don't see any pricing or US availability info. Could be a nice quiet mini eGPU option.

I wonder when someone will launch and AMD RX 580 based eGPU at the size of Aorus Gaming Box with power delivery at least 87 watt. That would be the bestseller eGPU on the market. Is it too hard to think this and make a real product.

Love the size, love the 1060 (feel its the sweet spot for Ultrabooks) but my god that case I ugly as sin... it's quite hard to get a simple box wrong but they have managed it!

I see it on my country's websites.
GALAX Gaming Box , Galax Box
Just wondering if someone has purchased and has opinions on it? I'm looking for small compact EGPU's to take with me on my trips (since my work computer is an X1 Carbon with no GPU).
My options are:
1. Aorus 1070 Box (always sold out on Amazon)
2. ZOTAC Amp Box Mini (cons: big power brick, no power for charging)
3. GALAX Gaming Box (cons: no usb ports, not sure if provides charging)
4. Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck (Pro: supports charging, Cons: decent size power brick, no usb ports)
5. Lenovo Graphics Dock (cons: I heard lots of compatibility issues along with can't update the NVIDIA drivers.)
My first choice is Aorus 1070 since it has the best graphics card + no power brick. But it's always sold out.
I was wondering if anyone had the GALAX before I make my decision.

Hello,
Did you finally make your choice since April ?
The GALAX just popped on several websites in France, and I am very interested. Best quality/price so far in all I can have access to! Only problem, too few reviews online, so I am afraid.
Many thanks !

Édit: link for the refurbished one. What is strange is that they already have 5 of them... Scary.

I received it today... They were fast.
I took some picture of the unboxing. Will post later. Its is pretty small (size of a PC PSU).
I was very scared at the beginning bcz it would not start (no green light). Then it took a very long time for the laptop so see it. It seems I have trouble with the thunderbolt driver, but will check that later.
First information :
- Not powerful enough to charge the DELL XPS13
- Performances : I am not a big gamer so I did not run benchs, but here what I can say about league of legends for example : Before 80 FPS with Mid settings in Full HD. Now 80 FPS 4K High Settings, and 125 FPS in FUll HD High settings.

In addition to my previous comments, I can add :
- the TB3 cable is VERY short. Maybe 50 or 60 cm...
- The machine is quiet so far (idle) and is barely warm.
- I don't have the GALAX logo written on the black space on the left top.
- Seems pretty cheep because the front face is made of plastic and because of the chosen design. The rest is better but feels like a 1980 PSU. However the small size makes that acceptable.
Here are the pictures of my unboxing (that I also posted on a french forum) :

Outdated info. You can now update your drivers and it works. I actually updated my drivers twice already.
Every (passive) Thunderbolt 3 cable is like that. It's 50cm. 100cm and 200cm long cables exist, they cost over 50 USD because it's active. This is a very nice price for a GTX 1060...

It is exactly 50 cm.
I was surprised because I have a Dell Thunderbolt 3 dock for which the cable is approx 110 cm (and is much thicker). You can see the cable on my picture with my laptop. Front is the Galax and the rear cable is the Dell's. But for the dell on the dock end it's directly attached unfortunately.

It looks like (apart for size considerations) the enclosure can use other GPUs, is that right?

Yes, but I think in the end it would not be possible. According to the pictures, the GC is smaller than a mini ITX so maybe if it is technically possible on paper, it might not physically. Same, I think the GC might not work on a normal computer due to the fan form factor.

Humm,
I am not familiar with the MAC univers, but I believe it won't.
This enclosure is Thunderblot-3 with a USB-C plug format and I guess you don't have that on your laptop... 😐

Hi everyone !
I currently own a Dell XPS 13 9370 and an Aorus Gaming Box 1080. They are awesome !
But few minutes ago, I was browsing Facebook as usual, and I found an ad for this : [link]
It seems to be an eGPU with a GTX 1060 inside form KFA2. I has a very good price (about $300). The problem is, why nobody talk about it ? Does someone own it ? It seems to be a good product, but it seems there is no mention at all about it on egpu.io
What do you think about it ?
