Gigabyte Releases AORUS GTX 1080 External Gaming Box
The current GTX 1070 mini ITX fan is 90mm. This new fan looks to be at least 120mm.
@itsage, yes, I agree with you, it's definitely a custom Card / PCB for their own box, and I think it's going to roar loudly...

Release date is November 3rd. There's no pricing yet. Gigabyte US is sending me a unit to review. I plan on doing a comparison of GTX 1060 vs. 1070 vs. 1080 eGPU. - https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1080IXEB-8GD#kf
I got hold of a demo unit of the gaming box 1070 (costing not much more than the 1070 card itself) and after reinstalling windows I'm very happy to be able to use it in bootcamp for gaming on an external screen. I know it is limited, but this size of the eGPU and with the bag they give you, is what I prefer. You can use it at home and you can easily bring it with you. It's sad it can't be used in macos, but the size is spot on. I didn't mind the fan noise either, isn't all that noisy.
Do you know if it will be possible to upgrade the graphic card in the 1070 gaming box to the 1080 in the future? Will they only sell the 1080 gaming box or will they also sell the custom 1080 for existing gaming box users? The PSU seems to be the same.
I am looking at purchasing one of the AORUS Box 1070 for my 2017 MBP 15" after much research, good value, love the PD etc but can someone confirm you cannot upgrade the card itself in a year or so within these boxes? Or other concerns that I may have missed.
Thanks in advance!
