The included TB3 .5m cable is capable of 100W PD. It's showing that rate in System Information for my late-2016 15" MacBook Pro. The XPS 9550 is another story. Dell might not have prioritized power delivery over the Thunderbolt 3 port on this machine. I'm seeing 33W PD at most on my XPS 9550 + AORUS Gaming Box.

@itsage, the battery status window is showing the power being sent to the battery. There is also the power being used to run the notebook which is not shown. Using a watt meter attached to the wall socket with TB3 enclosure connected & with no eGPU installed would give total PD+TB circuit power draw.

@Leks, the Dell Dock will deliver 90W/130W PD when using a 130W/180W power supply respectively. Please check what power supply your dock has. REF: http://www.dell.com/support/article/ie/en/iedhs1/sln304627/dell-dock-wd15--usb-type-c---information--capability-and-specifications?lang=en

@nando it's the TB16 dock. the brick is massive. I'm sure it has more than enough power.

See Benchmarks/Screenshots in the other forum, to find out what causes the Gaming Boxes Lag Spikes/FPS Drops after some time played.

@sacthegreat I have been using my 2016 15" MBP with this AORUS Gaming Box and an USB SSD drive. The Bootcamp installation is on the internal drive but Steam games directory is set for the external drive.

May I ask what is you setup steps ?

Anyone know if the whine is from the 40 mm fans or if it's from the psu?  I was thinking about replacing them with the noctua a-series bearing fans.

How did you guys update with the firmware tool? On XPS 13, i get a Retrieving PD error and it will not flash 🙁

Run Intel Thunderbolt Software 16.2 version to resolve this PD error.

I basically installed Windows 10 via Boot Camp Assistant in macOS (56GB partition space is enough). Then I changed the Downloads directory within Steam to the external SSD. All games are installed and ran from the external SSD.

It has to be the PSU. If you use the Aorus graphics engine you can set the fans to 0 and the noise is still there.

Well if you LOOK at the enclosure, you can see the GPU fan is still most of the time.

For half of it, it's coil whine. I remembered the sound from an old DYI sound system - I had to unplug the bugger least it buzzed me crazy all night.

For the other half it's the 3x 40mm fans that the enclosure is using (2x in front, one on PSU). Each makes a bit of noise.
