@toke-lahti The Thunderbolt FW Update Tool that worked for me came with the download package from the vendor. The software requirement is Intel Thunderbolt Software [17.4.77.400].

Finally got the fw updated!
Kept apple's drives far away and just one of those (already forgot) out of 5 tb-drivers and then both hp's utility and one of intels fw-updateTool worked!
Too bad that it already had the latest.
So, problems in macos side are not related to fw, but no I have so many hours of experience of fiddling in the windows side, that I hope this will reach to the finish line before next 100 hours...

I was struggling for days trying to update to F1.0_H2D on a rx580 gaming box with a 2017 Macbook Pro in bootcamp.
Everything I needed was spread out in this thread.
Needed the 16.x intel drivers, remove the physical card, hotplug only during windows boot.

@itsage, oh man. Thanks! That would have literally saved me days of frustration.

Updated the main post to link to tbt-flash as users with bootcamp will likely have an easier time updating firmware on macOS itself.
