Hi all,

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this. I've tried everything in my power to fix the issue, but decided I'd come here for some help. I have the below setup:

Laptop: Razer Blade Stealth 2018 with Touchscreen

eGPU Housing: Razer Core X Chroma (Purchased around a year ago)

GPU: Asus 960 Strix

Today, I ran into an issue where my Core X will no longer fully connect to my laptop. I can hear the fans spinning at full speed like normal on startup, but usually when this happens it slows down once everything connects. However, nothing is connecting and the fans continuously spin at full speed (as if my laptop is just starting up but it has been on for a while). Usually completely powering off my laptop and powering it back on will fix the issue, but that isn't the case this time. Everything was working fine last night, then I disconnected my laptop this morning, and when I went to plug it back in it is no longer connecting. Here's what I've tried:

Hard resetting the eGPU (turning power supply off and unplugging for 30 seconds, then plugging back in)

Powering my laptop on and off again

Disconnecting all peripherals and booting up with laptop connected to eGPU

None of this is working, so I could really use some help. Thank you in advance for all the help, hopefully I can find a fix Smile

Little Update: I finally got it working (to an extent)

I went into my BIOS settings and changed Thunderbolt Security to Disabled (is this a good fix? I read it on a forum somewhere but it just sounds scary lol)

However, now when I am booted up my laptop screen no longer displays anything. It used to act as a second monitor when the eGPU was connected, now it is just blank and my windows doesn't even detect it as a screen. Strange things going on here, let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

I'm very happy to hear that someone else is having this issue recently. I'm having the exact problem. My Razer Blade Stealth is connected to a Razer Chroma Core with a 2060 super. Since I booted it up today it's not connecting to the GPU, as it keeps saying that the GPU is inactive.

I believe this is due to the update that was pushed around last week? I've never encountered this update until then, and my chroma core works perfectly fine with my other thunderbolt enabled laptop- so it's the laptop and not the core.

Very frustrating! I'm going to try the BIOS trick and update here, but this might be a larger issue to raise to Razer.

UPDATE: No dice on the disabling thunderbolt security from the BIOS. I'm going to contact Razer support to see if I can make any headway here.

@ravio1i Glad to see I'm not alone. The thunderbolt security worked for me, but it's still not functioning as it usually does. Let me know if razer support tells you anything to fix the issue.
