Can somebody confirm if the Omen Accelerator has a standby mode.   As soon as I plug in the power cable, the power supply fans spins up and stays on regardless if I plug the thunderbolt cable into my laptop.   Even if i plug in the TB3 cable to my laptop, when i shut down my laptop the Omen Accelerator power supply fan still stays on.    By contrast, I have the Akitio Node enclosure, and the power supply on that enclosure only turns on when I plug the TB3 cable into the laptop, as soon as i unplug the cable there, the power supply goes into sleep mode, and the fan turns off.  I assume the Omen Accelerator should operate the same way.  I updated the Omen Accelerator BIOS to the latest version, but didn't fix issue.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

I believe that's by design (probably to allow for USB charging and such even when it's not connected to a laptop).

By design?  LOL, poor design then...

The only fix I know of is to replace the power supply with another 140mm one so you have an on/off switch.  I suggest the Seasonic Focus+ series.  Good luck.

So found simple workaround fix, that's $20 from amazon,

APC P8GT 8 Outlets 120V Power-Saving Home/Office SurgeArrest with Phone Protection

link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002K8S2J6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's a simple surge protector power strip with "master"  control feature that basically when the device plugged into the "master" outlet powers down, then the other devices plugged into the "slave" outlets also will shut down.

Others might find this useful for similar situations.

Most of the Accelerator use cases would include power delivery so there isn't actually anything else plugged in (other than accessories perhaps). I was personally not too bothered by the lack of a dedicated switch as most UK wall sockets have dedicated switches of their own anyway.

Even if in the US/EU, a simple AC plug switch is probably a simpler/cheaper solution than replacing a PSU (unless someone wants a more powerful/quiet/etc one anyway).

True, that is a simpler solution, but should we really have to do either?  Pretty ridiculous design decision again...

Well, IMHO, the real issue is if the fan is on if there is no load, we're just going into overkill mode here to get rid of fan activity. Notebook PSUs and USB/TB docks in general have do not have power switches of their own, nor is it overly practical to have one. Granted, PC PSUs tend to have a physical circuit breaker switch, but even that is intended to be used as a safety feature, not a regular way of turning things on/off, which is nowadays almost exclusively electrical.
