Hi guys, I’m new to egpu and I’m planning to buy a Dell Inspiron 14 7490 and connect with a Razer core X (which I currently have neither of them).

Just before I purchase the laptop and the dock, I noticed Razer says:

Systems require a Thunderbolt™ 3 port with external graphics support. Please check with your laptop manufacture to confirm if your laptop supports Thunderbolt 3 external graphics.

Fyr Inspiron 14 7490 does support tb3 but the CS tells me that it doesn’t support external graphics.

What’s mean by “support external graphics”? I thought it supports external graphics as long as the laptop supports tb3 and the external cpu model does compatible with the OS version of the laptop. I did some research on this question but the results were quite uncertain, some said yes and some said no.

Did someone successfully put a egpu on the same model I questioned ?

sorry for my poor English mate and thanks for helping me.

@11_rain “Support External Graphics” is a certification given by Intel once they have tested the machine to work well with external graphics cards. Most likely a laptop with Thunderbolt 3 port will work but it’s not a guaranteed or supported by the manufacturer if you run into trouble getting the setup to work.
