mac mini 2018 big sur and razer core x egpu will it work for imovie without crashing?

Hi i own mac mini 2018 with big sur i am  planning to speed my imovie editing can u tell me if egpu from razer core x  with amd will it work properly , or not i read for most people imovie crashes when they try to use egpu ? is this fixed or not if its not can u tell me other manufacturer which egpu works best with mac mini?

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

@bladest, I have two Razer Core X with AMD Radeon VIIs with my 2018 Mac mini...and they work great. I don't use iMovie though...Davinci Resolve is my editor of choice. 

 

Mac Mini 2018, 3.2 GHz 6-Core Core i7, 64 GB RAM, dual eGPU Radeon VII 16GB, 2 x Razer Core X, Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K in Sonnet Echo Express SE-I TB3.

Hi can you give it a try with latest big sur and i movie so i can see if it works only 1 case not 2 i  will be using.

I really need some information since i will buy soon the case and i dont want to end with unusable brick case and gpu... with crashes on mac mini big sur os...

No one is using an eGPU with iMovie. Don’t spend the money.

I do understand, but my other option will be to buy very expensive Mac pro which i cannot pay at the moment,, please advice...

i just want to know will  my imovie render fast and will it stable or it will crash a lot of people is using imovie with external gpu

@bladest, an eGPU causing crashing will rarely be brand/vendor specific so if there is an issue with iMovie a different eGPU isn’t going to change things. 

people usually use egpus for pro apps or games so getting data on iMovie usage may be a struggle.
