Hello,

I have a RBS kaby lake version too , no GPU yet in the enclosure.

I have sometimes connection loss problem when I cannot see the TB3 controller in windows, then I need to restart the computer then stop/restart the dock with the cable connected to recover the connection.

Also I stopped completely to use the usb hub function because of random connection loss with the mouse or the Ethernet connection, 2-3s loss then it comes back.

So basically right now it is only doing power supply, I hope the prices for gpu will go back to normal so I can finally use the dock…

I just connected an audio interface (Boss GT-001) to Mantiz but unfortunately audio starts to stutter immediately after connecting. I don´t have any other devices than this interface and my display connected to Mantiz. If I remove my display from Mantiz, audio gets corrected at same second.

Any idea how to tackle with this?

it is an AMP effect processor right? how did you connect? which port?

Anyone know if this will fit in the Mantiz? Says it needs a triple slot.

it is able to be installed into Mantiz Venus.

It is a guitar effect processor that works as a sound card. I tried it both on the back and the front but it stutters all the same.

not really know what the device is, but are you using the Venus as a Bus power to charge the GT01?

It is kind of a external sound card. It can get power from USB port but I have tested it with external power source and power through Mantiz. All the same when connecting trough Mantiz sound stutters.

the Mantiz Venus USB port is only to supply the 0.9V x 5A. I think this device request more than that. maybe this is the issue.

Hi John how is the progress for new firmware? Took pretty long already didn’t it?

Will release in W36th.

So just received the Mantiz Venus, great product btw excellent build quality.

The thing is… that I have the exact same problems as with my Razer Core, those I wanted to escape by buying the Venus :/ Well not as exact as before :

The problem lies with the USB ports. With my Razer Core, both my keyboard (Razer DeathStalker Chroma) and mouse (Razer DeathAdder Chroma) were laggy and completely unusable (both are 5V).

With the Mantiz Venus, I only have problems with my mouse, that’s freezing every minutes or so. My Venus FW is updated to the last version, as well as my Thunderbolt drivers (and any drivers for that matters), and I already tried completely erasing the mouse drivers and reinstalling them from scratch. My mouse works flawlessly connected to any ports on my Razer Blade Stealth, this issue really is with the Venus, and on any ports for that matters front and back.

I’m tempted to do a fresh Windows install but I already did that to try and correct the problem back with the Core and this didn’t solve anything. I hope not to have to do the same here but if nobody have a clue I guess I’ll try it out this weekend.

@Mymantiz_John: I have the same problem as OtaXou: If I connect a mouse to a USB port on the Venus, the cursor starts lagging. In addition, if I plug a USB sound card into the Venus the sound is lagging, too. I think someone had this problem earlier, but it was never solved.

Hi Everyone,

First, thanks for all the extremely helpful guides and information on the site. Using all the info here I’ve been able to get my late-2016 15″ Macbook Pro hooked up to a Mantiz Venus with an EVGA Geforce GTX 1080 Ti and the card has been running smoothly in MacOS Sierra and Windows 10, with one exception.

I’ve noticed under Windows 10 that the USB ports on the Mantiz Venus are completely unusable while the card is under load. If I plug in my keyboard and mouse they light up and seem to work fine when just browsing through Windows. If I start to play a game though they seem to repeatedly cut out and lag extremely badly – input from both freezes for 1-2 seconds at a time and makes them completely unusable.

I’ve had to get around this by plugging everything in directly to the laptop. That works fine, but I’m extremely disappointed that these don’t seem to work since having an all in one docking solution was what drew me to buying the Mantis Venus in the first place. At this point I’m a little frustrated I’ve paid the premium for the Mantiz Venus over a simpler solution like the Akitio Node.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are there workarounds or solutions for this issue? I’ve looked around but can’t find others complaining of this issue.

Thanks!

I’m experiencing the same issues. When on load, my headset (which is usb based plugged on Mantiz) stops for 1-2 seconds often. It doesn’t happen when I plug it directly on my Macbook.

I just had a similar experience on my 15″ MBP on OS X 10.12.6. On a heavy render in Octane Cinema4d my USB mouse suddenly disconnects, whether connected front or rear ports it happens. Has this issue been resolved or confirmed?

I am having the same issue. All my USB peripherals flicker on and off constantly. I have been on the latest FW since the day it was released but the issue only just started now. I do not want to roll back to previous FW and suffer H2D loss but the unusable USB ports almost make me feel the need to do that. My eGPU isn’t even under load when it happens.

I have messaged Mantiz on FB, hoping for a response soon.

UPDATE:
Got in touch with Mantiz, they are about to send me a link to the fixed firmware. Will unfortunately result in losing the H2D gains from September FW update but I would rather have my USB ports work.
Going to test the FW later and update here with results and tell you guys if USBs are working again.

Will there be a Mac installer for the firmware? I don’t have a Windows machine nor do I use Bootcamp.

The firmware sent to me by Mantiz appears to have fixed the USB issues. All my peripherals now functioning correctly.

Unfortunately, it is confirmed that this FW results in losing the H2D gains from September FW update.

Thank you at @Mymantiz_John for very fast support for fixing the issue. I would rather have fixed USB ports than 500-600 extra mib/s bandwidth for H2D.

In the future, I would like to see new firmware that features H2D gains AND USB ports fixed. I hope they are working on this.

@mustardseedsg, the FW package that Mantiz sent me appears to include an OS X installer. I recommend contacting Mantiz on Facebook to get the firmware.

Glad to know that you had fixed the USB problem. But it has to be updated under the windows 10 or at least bootcamp. You saw a OSX …there it is because of I zip the file by Mac.

So if we use our USB ports regularly through the Mantiz Venus, we should stick with the firmware that came initially? I haven’t updated to the fixed H2D firmware since I don’t think there’ll be any performance gains in games, but this will give me legit reasons to not update the firmware.

So if I am on a Mac which doesn’t have a Windows partition through BootCamp, how can I tell what firmware version I am running, and which is the new one?  (Apparently, there is unfortunately no way to update it without Windows, which is the only downside I’ve seen on this unit so far.)

not for this unit. Intel FW update utility is only with the Windows version. Since it is Intel Technology, no choices for now.

Help. My Ethernet port on my mantis Venus unit his malfunctioning. I’ll be playing PUBG for ~30 min or so and my Ethernet connection goes out and says no internet access. I’ll reset my computer and it’ll work back up, but it’ll randomly go offline again. My router is working properly, my wifi works still. I’ve even tried a different router and the problem persists. I hate having to rely on wifi to play online.

@mantizjohn any suggestions?

I have been using the mantiz for about 2 months for gaming with my MBP 15” wtouchbar and only recently I started having problems with my Ethernet connection. I have the latest firmware installed on my mantiz

The good people at Mantiz have helped me with the firmware patch on my Venus. I’m happy to report that everything is working well now, with no drop in Octane Bench scores. My USB mouse functions properly, as do the Ethernet and internal SATA. I even performed a heavy C4D Octane render with USB drives connected and Time Machine running over Ethernet. All smooth.

Also, despite me being totally clueless about Windows, Mantiz support talked me through Bootcamp installation over Messenger and I now have Windows running on my MBP. It’s really not that scary after all!

200W more power (350W vs 550W)

PGU max power 300W vs 375W – is it possible to utilize?? Even GTX1080Ti needs ~220W max.

Power delivery 15W vs 87W – does that really matter?

I mean, whats the point to pay 80$ more?

If you plug in your laptop using the supplied AC adapter so the enclosure isn’t powering it, you have an extra 200W  over a Sonnet 350 that you can wire to your video card. That means this enclosure can drive a power hungry Vega56.

Posted by: ondert

Actually 87W power delivery is important for me since I’m using 15″ MacBook Pro. I’m looking to get a Mantiz Venus or this one. Venus also looks promising but want to learn how fluently I/O ports work.

ps: I live in EU and nobodys sells Mantiz here and custom fee is about 150$.

Costlier I/O port enclosures have worse eGPU performance

As it’s US$50 less than a US$399 Mantiz Venus whose USB/SATA/LAN ports impinge on bandwidth requiring a static-allocating firmware to get decent I/O performance, impinging on eGPU bandwidth.

Is it worth paying more for that problem or using those extra funds to wire your bandwidth-hungy storage using it’s own cable, giving better performance?

Where is the problem? We fixed it and no performance drop! check here & here.

You may not know, even with the eGPU w/o any IO, just to link the KB/Mouse on the host, with some percentage, there will be KB ghost key or Mouse lag happened. it is Host EMI protection / High DPI Mouse/ High response KB/ Wifi Module  even the router mixed problem.

@Mantiz_John, did you miss this user report that you’ve linked? Your enclosures with I/O ports have a firmware that sacrifices eGPU bandwidth in order to get USB peripherals working correctly:
