First week of September sounds about right. Gigabyte should have a new firmware around then too.

Will there be any more group buy events for egpu.io? I really like the Mantiz but the $100 price difference compared to the node is a hard bullet to bite.

Strangely my Razer Blade Stealth will not recognize Mantiz anymore. I am not sure if Windows have updated something but simply booting RBS and Mantiz is not showing in attached devices in Thundebolt software. I tried reinstalling Thunderbolt and booting several times with and without Mantiz being connected, but software just would not recognize Mantiz.

Upon connecting Mantiz my GPU´s fans start whirring so I´m clueless what is bugging my system.

I left my office today while some things were transferring over USB via the Mantiz. When I came back a few minutes later, there was an error because the Mantiz disconnected. I am getting power to my XPS13, but it won't power my GPU or even recognize the Mantiz in Windows. No amount of disconnecting / restarting / etc. will help.

HI, thanks for your interested in Mantiz Venus. The price gap actually came from this.

1. A different enclosure material & treatment ( Mantiz: AL + Anodizing ) VS Metal + Painting.

2. PD 87W vs PD 15W

3. Gigabit Lan/5 USB 3.0/SATA Port

4. PSU: 550W

Try a power reset on the eGPU enclosure. There’s no official troubleshooting guide but I found out a way to do it fairly reliably. Leave the Thunderbolt 3 cable connected between laptop and eGPU, turn both off. Unplug the eGPU from power outlet. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes then power it back on with the laptop.

I had a Akitio and this is leaps and bounds better. Well worth the extra $100.

That did not correct the problem 🙁 It was a sudden issue during an operation, so it may be hardware related. Would the Mantiz supply power if the TB3 board was fried?

I am ok with the $389 for the higher quality product. But the $80 extra shipping cost is a big hit.

did you switch graphic card before it fail to work? Did you have power delivery to your laptop?

From honk kong via Air it is normal, also you need to add your country taxes.

No switch of the graphics card, but I still have power delivery. The Mantiz isn't recognized by my computer, but does provide power.

@Zackey_Zee  if you're on the stock wifi cars, try lowering your wifi output power to 75 or less (i had to lower to 25% before things worked properly)

I can give that a try. What would the WiFi output have to do with the TB3 port? It disconnected in the middle of transferring data via USB. I think there is something else going on.

if you still have power delivery, it means the PSU is still working fine.

The stock card power supply interferes with things connected to the TB port that use PD (solution was from a Dell tech).

@Mymantiz_John

I tested Powercolor Vega 64 black with Mantiz Venus/MBP 15" late 2016 on Win10 and High Sierra beta6. I got mixed results:

High Sierra beta 6

Brucex on FCP was only 15.5sec👍, but Danvinci Resolve freezes the system 👎

All the games that I tested (1440p) rebooted the system: F1 2016, Grid Autosport, Mad Max, Rock League, etc

All openGL benchmarks have the jitter, as in your test. Solved turning off the AA.

Unigine Valley Benchmark RX Vega 64
Unigine Heaven Benchmark RX Vega 64
Unigine Heaven Benchmark RX Vega 64 3
Unigine Heaven Benchmark RX Vega 64 2
Unigine Heaven Benchmark RX Vega 64 1
Geekbench4 RX Vega 64
Geekbench Metal RX Vega 64
Luxmark RX Vega 64 SW R
Luxmark RX Vega 64 SW L
Luxmark RX Vega 64 + Intel HD530 + Radeon Pro 460 SW R

Win10 Creator:

I tested 9 games and always got the system reboot (same as rob7697). "Prey" at 1440p not problem, but if you go to 4K, again, reboot the system. I was able to extend a little bit the time playing if I set Wattman at Powersave profile and the VBios switch to the right, but I always got the system reboot. It is an intermittent nightmare.

I saw you mentioned about the 60ow, but I also found from Tom's Hardware confirming that the card will reach the 385 watts, so I don't think the mantis is going to be able to handle that with its limit of 375W (Gold) and I don't think it is going to be resolved with a driver update. Probably we can change the PSU with the FPS SDA600 (SFX) with 600 watts (Gold)

I'd like to put this beast in there:

Dimensions are: H=55 L=293 W=142 mm... Will it fit?? What about Power?

Any plan to open distribution channel in UK to make it more affordable? I think your product is the best compared other egpu, but the shipping cost is killing me. The sonnet egfx makes more sense to buy, it's only 260-300 pounds.

shipping from HK to UK with a 7KG by DHL Express. it really costs a lot.

but please do consider about the huge difference than the Sonnet. the Extra IO, larger PSU and nice material & building quality.

Thank you.

Power had no issue ( Max t0 375W to GPU ) , but I've tried the Asus, eGPU and MSI's. 1080 Ti , there's no fitting issue.

HI, thanks for update, Vega64 for just few M-sec it will reach to 650W or more. and it really need to consider to change a larger PSU. ( But for the warranty & safety consideration, I won't suggest to do so. ).

@cresjes, can you test FCPX utilizes the eGPU for proxie/optimized media generation ?

I am interested in a setup like yours. The optimal I guess would be to use the quick sync for encoding/decoding and the eGPU for the actual rendering, but with the eGPU attached it uses the CPU for encoding/decoding and the transcoding is worse...

I suppose it is too easy on macOS since drivers are beta. Also Vega64 seems to consume too much power (power spikes) even for Venus PSU which is quite powerful. I don't know if AMD will found a solution/workaround for this. I would suggest to get a Vega56 but at least for now it is even difficult to find.
