Hey.

I have a GTX 1080 in my box.

Every time I restart my computer, the 'Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080' in my display adapter has a triangle against it. I mess around, reinstalling, taking leads out and in and eventually it starts working....    however next time I restart, it isnt working and I have to go through the whole process again.

It seems to forget it has the driver installed for it every time I restart.

Any ideas guys?

Where does that little rubber pad with sticker go?

After I switched fan wire to the left side port it became just perfectly silent. No need to buy new fan.

Can anyone upload a photo of the silkscreen of the Venus? I don't know how it is. Maybe you @Mymantiz_John!

Thanks!!

What do you mean by silkscreen?

The laser silkscreen in the case with the logo... can anyone upload it?

There should be two of them... Obviously an anti scratch protection to be mounted to the underside of the Venus...

That figures! I only got one though.

High sierra beta 2 installed.  Does it come with pascal drivers or do I need the web drivers.  My 1070 doesn't arrive for a few days yet..

I transformed mine into a very useful  & compact docking station with a 8TB RAID 1 with a raid controller, 2 8TB NAS drives and a compact HDD mount:

mount
raid

I got the mount from here and the controller from here. Setting it up was quite easy: I made four holes on the mount that matched the holes on the cover, and I had to cut two of the four mounting "lips" (bend them instead). I also made four holes to mount the bare raid controller with typical motherboard mounts on the side of the hdd aluminum structure. Even though the hard drives are mounted with anti-vibration rubber mounts, there is still some residual vibration on the case, but nothing to worry about. The raid controller supports hardware raid0/1 & software raids and is connected with a esata to sata cable to the mainboard. I was also lucky that the hight was just right so the USB 3 cables could pass in between the two drives.

I also reversed the case fan to direct air inside the case. I believe this provides much better cooling especially when GPUs with a blowout design are used. In that case (my case), both GPU and PSU direct air outwards whereas the case fan provides enough airflow from the side-vents to cool down the board. In my experience from custom PCs, having both inlet and outlet fans, gives you the best cooling.

I am also waiting for a fan replacement because that fan is loud as hell. The Akitio node was loud as well, but I find the Venus noise more distracting. And even though it is easy to fix compared to the node,  for the average consumer it can definitely damage the over-all experience. I can also see how a 120mm could work if the opening was different, which would offer better cooling with even lower noise levels. I might mod the case once I find the time.

Everything else works as expected and I am quite happy with the case. Once the high sierra supports NVIDIA cards (or when I can buy an ATI Vega?) and hotplugging without log out, this will be one hell of a docking station for video editing on a laptop...

I've married my Mantiz to a GTX 1060 6GB and an HP Spectre x360 13" (i7 7500 U 2.9GHz) running Windows 10 64 bit. Very pleased that it basically plugged and played after installing the drivers and can be hot plugged as necessary with no restarts. I ran a benchmark on 3DMark and scored around 3100, which is respectable. It's changed Player Unknown's Battlegrounds from 10fps under my 1GB laptop internal card to around 60fps (medium settings on 1080; should've done better really), which at least makes it playable. Was hoping for a bit more juice on that -- suspect there's bottlenecking as the HP gets very hot when running games. If anyone has any ideas on how to approach that, please let me know!

Only gripe really (apart from £84 import duty) is the excessively loud system fan in the Mantiz. Under stress it's like an afterburner roaring away. The GPU itself is quiet as a mouse. Anyone recommend a quiet fan replacement?
