Hmm.. if you're handy, consider unplugging the auxiliary board that supplies USB/SATA/LAN so there's no tapping off of the bandwidth by those devices. This is shown in the pic below:

Then re-run CUDA-Z to see if performance has improved.

Hey guys, while you remove /reinstall your Gfx, must be highly careful, we had few cases that the GFX metal bracket touch down to the Mainboard and caused the pad peer off which is not able to do the RMA and need to swap a brand new Mainboard for that.

2nd, I add the IO board to test the H2D w/o performance drop and even I hook a SATA HDD ( but not read/write things on it ) w/o performance drop. As I said, I'll test HP and Lenovo.

I can provide another data point, albeit with a bandwidth-neutered XPS 15 9560.

Stock 0.5m passive cable:

Host to Device Pinned: 1150-1190 MiB/s

Host to Device Pageable: 887-991 MiB/s

Cable Matters 2.0m active cable:

Host to Device Pinned: 883-926 MiB/s

Host to Device Pageable: 817-857 MiB/s

GPU in enclosure is a GTX 760 if that matters. It's the only thing I have on hand to test with at the moment. Does ~1150 MiB/s look normal for an XPS 15 in this case? The drop in bandwidth using the Cable Matters 2m cable is concerning. I have a 1m active CalDigit cable on order and will re-test once I have that.

Any troubleshooting suggestions for my results? BIOS, Thunderbolt drivers, and Thunderbolt firmware are all updated to the most recent available from Dell.

@HonkusMaximus, even your result is less than the 16Gbps-TB3 result achieved by itsage on a also 2-lane neutered XPS 13 using  a AKiTiO Thunder3:

Interface CUDA-Z pinned H2D
MiB/s | Gbps

Source
16Gbps-TB3 1450.91
12.17 itsage

As taken from https://egpu.io/external-gpu-implementations-table/#perf .  Incidentally, 16Gbps-TB3 is over 64% of 32Gbps-TB3 H2D bandwidth. A bit better than what we though might have only been 50%.

There's clearly something causing performance degradation here. @Mantiz_John, care to chime in what it is?

We had again submitted a Firmware update request to Intel, after Certified, those issues were gone.

And for the Dell XPS, I'll post the screenshot later. Thank you guys finding out those strange behavior then we can have chance to look at that deeper and make the improvement. Cert.FW process wont be long. Please wait.

  • Has anyone managed to solve the mouse lag issue?

I got mouse lag as well on the external monitors when connected to the GPU. I believe the crappy Pascal drivers for macOS is the issue.

Also, tried closing your laptop screen and seeing if the mouse lag persists?

That's weird, I'm also getting mouse lag, but I have an amd gpu

I have high sierra beta 2.  Unfortunately it won't let me install pascal drivers for my 1060.  Does anyone have the Venus/ high sierra/pascal working?

the reason the drivers won't install is they require Mac OS 10.11 or 10.12.  Maybe I could trick the install package to install on 10.13?

I tricked the pascal install package into installing in High Sierra but NVIDIA web driver is greyed out in the nvidia driver manager.  It defaults to OSX default driver because it claims the web driver is not compatible.

Do I need to wait until nvidia releases an official high sierra web driver?  This sucks because I could have used the venus with sierra but thought plug and pray would be better with High Sierra.
