Hi,

Like many others, I am plagued with the horrible PSU fan noise of the Mantiz Saturn Pro

Does anyone advise any particular PSU? I thought the Seasonic Focus GX 750 would  be a good alternative. I bought it but had to return it because had a loose piece inside the PSU enclosure (bad luck I guess).

Please let me know your thoughts on what PSU to get. I am running a RTX 3080 FE.

Cheers

hi, @francisco_olavo I think you have already chosen the best PSU - the Focus GX 750 is very highly rated. Small, same size as the original PSU so it fits the Saturn case perfectly. Other manufacturer’s similar spec PSU are bigger. Yes you got a bit of bad luck with the faulty unit but I would exchange it for another one.

Corsair TX750M is another option but not as good as the Seasonic, Corsair SF750 probably quieter and so better than the TX but it will need ATX to SFX adapter and fan may not align with Saturn fan bracket.

I would also suggest changing the stock Saturn case fan for something like the be quiet! Silent Wings 3 120mm Quiet PWM, these two modifications should mean the Saturn enclosure runs pretty much silent so you will only hear it when your chosen GPU is under load and the GPU fans spin up.

Good luck.

@dalyboy, thanks. Regarding the case fan, I have already exchanged it for the Noctua nf-a12x25.  Besides the horrible caqui color, seems to have great performance. I guess is a bit more noisy than the Silent Wings3  but also has more efficient airflow.

I got a SeaSonic Focus PX-850 -- it's dimensions are identical to the stock PSU. I highly recommend it.

Yes, the GX is gold rated, PX is platinum rated. Both offer a ‘hybrid’ mode which only spins the PSU fan when the load requires. Much like the stock Saturn PSU.

Both will be quieter than the Saturn stock PSU - even the fixed version without the annoying fan noise. Most stock fans are cheap parts I find.

I’m not sure whether the PX is quieter than the GX but being platinum rated it should be more efficient (but probably more expensive too). The GX is very efficient and quiet for a fairly compact gold rated PSU already.

The Saturn stock PSU is gold rated 750w, the ‘best’ specification matched replacement in my view is Seasonic GX-750. PX-850 used by Arzen is higher specification than GX-750; so it is an upgrade to the stock spec..
