Hi guys. My eGPU has been working for about 2 years, but 3 days ago it stopped working. I don’t know what is the problem.
A few days ago I installed NVIDIA cuDNN to run Octane render. For a few days, my plugin worked but sometimes it crashed c4D. After 3 days of working, my eGPU stopped working. I restored my system to 5 days ago (the days before I install Octane). Even I installed the drivers again but my eGPU doesn't work. I don’t know if it’s software or hardware (like GPU, Power, Cable, board) problem. I need someone to help me out.

Here are what I have:

  • iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)
  • macOS High Sierra 10.13.3

NVIDIA Drivers

  • CUDA Driver Version: 418.163
  • NVIDIA Web Driver: 387.10.10.25.156
  • NVIDIA cuDNN

EGPU

I realized that the lights on the board go on at the beginning and after a few seconds goes off!
Here is a video and a few pictures that might help:

Please let me know if you know what is the problem and what should I do.
Also, I'd like to know if I need to upgrade my macOS to 10.13.4. If so where can I download that, because I only have an option to upgrade to 10.13.6?
Thank you

I bought a power supply 750W.
I downloaded and installed 10.13.4

I installed purge-wrangler.sh, but my second monitor doesn't work.

I hope someone can help me before I kill myself

Do you have any other ports (maybe USB) that you can test? If nothing connects, it may be the board itself that could be dead rather than your video card...

Thanks for your replay. I shouldn't  upgrade my macOS to 10.13.4.
Actually the main problem was Power supply. Although I unplugged my previous power (600W) for a few hours my eGPU didn't work.

  1. I bought  a 750W power supply.
  2. I restored my macOS to 10.13.3 (and I saw that my second monitor worked very well).
  3. I reinstalled CUDA 418.163

Now my eGPU works very well again.  That was my experience. I hope this will help others who has the same problem like me. 😉
