So got my hands on the Nitro+ V64. Tried to put it into Mantiz Venus. Failed. Opened up the Venus more to find space. Bent a pin. Fortunately recovered from this and all works fine with my reference card (as before). Currently the Nitro+ is in my older Sonnet. I want it in the Venus somehow. Any way to pull it off without destroying some parts of the Venus ;p?

@mac_editor The Nitro+ Vega 64 is massive but it’s definitely the best air cooled version. I have not opened the Mantiz Venus recently but I believe removing the rear panel may let you fit it. Here’s a photo I found when I removed the three panels from Mantiz Venus. Basically sliding the GPU straight in from the back.

Thank you. I actually tried this but the fit was so tight that it took me ages to get out of the mess I had created. Obviously as others of done this it is doable, but its a big pain. Even in the Sonnet box I had to remove the 120mm fan to actually get the card to fit in. I didn't reinstall the fan - the card runs just fine without it OCed. I'll probably just wait for a nicer card instead to fit the Mantiz (such as a higher end version of 5700 XT reasonably priced).

Currently running both the Vegas. Room feels hotter already ;p

@mac_editor We’d love to see some photos of the Nitro+ 64 fitted inside the Mantiz Venus. How’s airflow overall? I was bored yesterday evening so I took the Mantiz Venus apart to clean. Before putting it back together I though let’s try the RX Vege 64 LC. It fits nicely and the radiator can exhaust heat to the other side when panel was removed. The FSP 550W SFX power supply in my unit was modified to handle the RX Vega 64 so it ran stable so far.

A bit too late :p as I sent the Nitro back. The noise levels and effort needed to fit in the GPU were not at all worth it given how much $$$ I paid for it (was used, plus even factoring in the fact that I could sell off my reference card). Plus, the GPU needs really good exhaust fans in the case to come into its own. Airflow was poor IMO, with the GPU being throttled in FurMark eventually (default clocks/fan curve). In my testing, I had to eventually increase fan speeds enough that the goal of a low-noise setup while gaming was lost - even with aggressive undervolting. Likely reason for so much heat was probably the power it can sip. It was obviously better than the reference model in all aspects regardless, and I could OC higher too, but again, not worth it. On macOS side for productivity tasks (video editing for me), even the reference model rarely increases fan speeds due to FCP being efficient and GPU loads being in short bursts (1080p editing but with heavy effects). At the same time, I’m also replacing the Venus via Amazon - the new box should arrive today. Let’s see how bandwidth is.

I also realized why boxes like the Sonnet have designed their boxes in the way they have. It’s too difficult to install/remove GPUs in the Venus due to one-side access - with a high chance of damaging the board. eGFX boxes having PCIe slot locks is also something I don’t like, especially with the Venus.

You are returning the Venus...to get a Sonnet?  Just checking I understood that correctly 🙂
I’m looking forward to seeing pics of your next setup.

Nope, just replacing the Venus unit with a new one. Was getting low bandwidth on it and was unable to flash its firmware. Can read more here. Hopefully the new unit does not have low bandwidth.

I already have a Sonnet.
