No option to prefer eGPU, 2015 MacBook Pro Mojave
As shown in the screenshots my Sonnet Breakaway Box and my GTX 570 is being recognised but I do not have any signs of an eGPU in my top bar. I also cannot select an app, get more info, general and select prefer eGPU. What should I do?
Sorry for not putting the photos straight up, pretty new to this platform.
I think the default nvidia configuration for the EFI treats the eGPU as if it was a built-in dedicated card. You can check this with the terminal command:
safeEjectGPU gpus if it says dedicated then that's what it's doing. I think this might be what's blocking the prefer external option. I would try installing the EFI with the "AMD" configuration and see if that works.
Thanks for the info, here are my results in terminal from the "safeEjectGPU gpus" command:

Does discrete mean dedicate? Thanks for redirecting me to OliverB, I think I will try purge wrangler again now that I am running Mojave.
In my experience, GTX 570 (Fermi Chip) is not supported at all. Support starts with Kepler chips (most of the 600/700er) series and this is great an works in Mojave, too.
Got it, guess I'll have to go out and buy one of those. Thanks for clearing up my confusion.
Does the same apply with Windows?
