As the topic suggests.

From my understanding:

TB4: Yes, with no extra setup steps

USB4: Maybe, since TB implementation is optional

Correct me if I am wrong.

You would be correct!

Although USB 4 specifications was birthed from the Thunderbolt 3 specification, actually implementing Thunderbolt 3 support is optional. As for Thunderbolt 4, it maintains backwards compatibility (e.g. https://www.anandtech.com/show/15902/intel-thunderbolt-4-update-controllers-and-tiger-lake-in-2020) so you should be good to go.

Since Thunderbolt 4 doesn't improve on the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 3, I expect current enclosures to maintain a long usable life.

I recently bought an ASUS Zenbook14 UX425EA laptop.
The CPU model is i7-1165G7. That's right. Thunderbolt 4 is a CPU in the SoC.
So, should I wait for the eGPU for TB4 to be released? Or is it okay to buy the Gigabytes AROUS GAMING BOX TB3?

The external monitor uses LG's 27GL605F, and the maximum resolution of this monitor is FHD 144hz.
To be honest, the RTX 3080 seems to be overkill for me.
I am contemplating the RTX 3060 Ti or the RTX 3070.

The main games I play are Division 2, RDR2, and Cyberpunk 2077.
It's funny, but I just bought it and I haven't been able to play it yet.

The first question is, should I wait for the eGPU release for TB4?

The second question is to use the eGPU connected to an FHD 144hz external monitor. Would the RTX 3060 Ti or the RTX 3070 be good for the games listed above?

I ask you guys with poor English skills.
Thank you in advance for reading the long article.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

@kks, You can see my benchmarks with the 11657g + RTX 2080Super. Expect similar results I suppose
