Hey all,
i got my 1070 Gaming Box Tuesday and i was wondering if you guys had a same experience as i?
Please share yours in the comments, if you had similar problems or know a fix to a Problem.
I really hope you can help me with these Points.
Feel free to add yours too in the comments.
1. My Notebook doesn't recognize always the Graphics Card.
2. The Geforce Experience Software crashes the Gaming Box sometimes (after every restart it doesn't recognize the Drivers and wants to install them new, sometimes it "finds" Them again during the installation process)
Led to a clean install of Windows for me - won't use it anymore
3. The Gaming Box doesn't load my Notebook always (Restarting Helps).
4. Bluescreens happen from time to time after commanding the pc to shut down or restart.
5. Using the USB Ports of the Gaming Box has always the trace-appearance of random disconnections of the peripherals (not the Gaming Box overall).
6. The Picture on my Monitor seems not smooth as before, the visual desktop and Browsing performance on my Notebook Screen fells way better e.g. in Browsing it doesn't feel like 120 HZ and the Start Menu stutters.
(my old USB HUB with HDMI / Switch / PS4 get a way smoother moving Picture on the screen)
7. The USB C Port feels kind of loose, the cable has straight connection but you can move it in the female usb c port a little.
8. THE Worst Point (maybe connected to 7 but not sure)
The Gaming Box (if it works properly) isn't reliable in the connection. From time to time the Gaming Box just disconnects and shuts down - which obviously crashes games. After that its a 70 / 30 chance if the connection stays lost or it reconnects again (does include pluging in and pluging out)
This makes the Box useless for any competitive game like Overwatch, League of Legends, Rainbox Six etc...
I really hope someone can help me with these Points.
Feel free to add yours too.
Overall the Gaming Box would be the perfect device for me / the perfect gaming Hub for my Ultrabook
-Small and mobile,
-powerful (at least for my demands),
-direct connection to my monitor through HDMI/DP
-3 USB 3 Ports
-Power Delivery Charging of the Laptop
But sadly ,it feels more like a half-baked prototype

Hey,

i do have a Gamingbox 2070 since one week now. From what i read its the same Box just different card. Theres no difference to yours. The only issue i have is that i need to pull the powercord from my box everytime my Ultrabook restarts or is shutdowned for a while. Everything else runs perfectly fine. I have a HP Spectre x360 i7 8565u. Im also using an HP G2 Dock with Soundmodule. The Gamingbox isnt directly connected to my Ultrabook, its connected with my Dock. Im not using the USB Ports from the gamingbox, because this lead me to Bluescreens since i updated the firmware to the H2D one. Maybe this will fix a bunch of your problem. Get an USB-Hub and dont use the ports from your Gamingbox.

cheers

Did already an update to the H2D firmware.
Do you also load your Notebook with the Gaming Box? To understand it fully you have your gaming box connected with thunderbolt 3 cable and HDMI to your HUB and from there to your Monitor? Thought this will cause performance loss. Sadly for me not an option due to the fact that I am not willing to spend another 100-200€ for a workaround. But thanks for your input

I also have the 2070 and I dont have any issues at all. Have you installed the Thunderbolt Control Center (I couldnt get the latest version to install so I ended up using version 16.x)? It made everything a lot more stable for me. I dont use the USB ports on the Gaming Box itself so I cant comment on that portion. When using an external monitor, I use the HDMI port on the Gaming Box.

Yes i charge my Notebook via the Gaming Box. Today i switched from SpectreX360 13" i7 5565U to the new DELL XPS 15 9570 i9 8950HK. Its same thing. Works like a charm.
This is how my setup looks like.

setup

I just have one cable plugged in to my Notebook. All other gear (Mouse, Keyboard, Network) is running though my HP G2 Dock. I have nothing else connected to my Gamingbox except the thunderbolt cable that goes into my HP Dock

Are you still having issues with the USB ports? Or have you managed to fix it?

I'm thinking to buy one game box for me but I'm having many doubts if I should go for the RX 580 or the 1070. I just saw that the RX 580 is about 330 and the 1070 is 430 (both used in Amazon.us). I think for the price difference the 1070 has a better cost x benefit. What do you guys think?
