Re-purposing parts from Aorus Gaming Box
Just a question, I have a last gen gaming box and am looking to upgrade to a new full size RTX card to help future-proof my setup. I would prefer not to buy a whole new enclosure (Razer core, Akito, Mantiz), soI looked to what it would take to make a diy eGPU. It seems that the part that restricts the build is the component that connects the card to the thunderbolt output.
My question is if it is possible to disassemble my current gaming box, and remove the component that takes the PCIe from the graphics card and puts it to a thunderbolt 3 output. I would then buy a tiny PC case and a requisite PSU for the new card and have that function as a working eGPU. If it needs a mini PCIe to PCIe adapter I would have to get that as well.
If this is possible, could I set up internal storage slots that would also feed into the same TB3 output (similar to the Mantiz)?
I want to try to do this so I can avoid paying the premium that comes with enclosures.
