@i0ntempest, Well, you can read my story here: https://egpu.io/forums/bootcamp/cold-boot-rx-5500-5700-xt-egpu-on-w10-2004-and-10-15-7/paged/4/#post-93073

No crashes currently. But it crashed / got unstable in W10 for some reason with TB 40Gbps cable (amongst other factors) as I remember.

@susurs Took a while to read everything, if I understand right you’re blind booting Windows just like me (no iGPU) right? Also u still using 20Gb cable?

Setup 1: Custom Build Mid-Tower Hackintosh (SMBIOS: Apple Mac Pro 2019)+ eGPU

eGPU: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 via Thunderbolt 3 (AKiTiO Node Lite)
OS: macOS Monterey, Windows 11, Kali Linux 2022
Setup 2: Apple Mac mini 2018 + eGPU
iGPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630
eGPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600 MXM 8GB GDDR6 via Thunderbolt 3 (TaiDu TCX-230DA)

@i0ntempest, ...It was a long story and I almost gave up at one point.

Yes, using 20Gbps, Hackflags 400 and PCIe Controller x16 – 1901 disabled in the Device Manager after all.

While using external USB-C / HDMI bootscreen is not visible on both, macOS and W10, but it does not make any discomfort for me.

Actually, I do not need apple_set_os.efi bootloader at all in my case because I use USB-C to HDMI cable. Even if I leave internal USB-C connected for a mistake and eGPU connected as well, there is no green flashing screen and reboot / recovery as with using internal HDMI (and no bootloader).

P.S. The only thing which I still haven’t resolved for now is internal / loopback boot which was working great on previous generation of the cards (5xx).

But it is not really important as I do not keep eGPU connected at all times, and, in case I’d like to, there are nice small (tiny) HDMI switch boxes available (2 in / out).

@susurs, Navi cards have terrible loopback performance.

I'm also blind booting a Mini eGPU set up and finding it not much of an issue even though I have to replug the display once W10 is up and running (to get it to come on).

Does this works good under Windows 10 ?

I´m using Lenovo and Dell laptops.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

For the 5500XT version, most likely yes. For the 5700 version however, I'm not sure. See the conversation between me and Susurs in this thread after I posted my setup.

Been lurking on egpu.io for years, but I wanted to pass along this information --

@magnus, I have a Dell XPS 13 9310 with the Tiger Lake i7-1185g7 and it indeed does work (RX 5700 puck), although I need to figure out why it stutters when I plug it in (external ultrawide display).

Sonnet's stipulation is that you need to be running Win10 Version 20H2. I'm currently on Version 20H2, Build 19042.1052.

Edit 7/9/21: Attached to my old XPS 13 9350 on Windows v1903 and it functions just fine as well.

Cheers!

Guys take a look at this: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?scm=1007.13982.82927.0&id=662764713222

A small Chinese company have made an eGPU similar to the Puck but with a 6600 inside. Looks very interesting, but the store does not support returns once the product is opened, and I’m not sure if it would work with my setup. A review can be found here (in mandarin): https://b23.tv/nS5El9s , if you guys are interested maybe I can make English subtitles.
