I’ve documented the process of upgrading a Sonnet eGFX Breakway Box from 350W to 550W.

Enermax SFX Power Supplies have been shown to work well (without upstream power delivery to your Macbook over TB3):

Nice video. Changing the power supply removes upstream power delivery? Or do you mean your MacBook Pro doesn't get power delivery because it's an older MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 2?

I wonder, can a Thunderbolt 3 eGPU box with power delivery provide Power Delivery to a USB-C only MacBook? The MacBook can't use a Thunderbolt eGPU but it might be able to get power from one (Thunderbolt uses the USB-C Power Delivery spec).

Mac mini (2018), Mac Pro (Early 2008), MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), GA-Z170X-Gaming 7, Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5, Sonnet Echo Express III-D, Trebleet Thunderbolt 3 to NVMe M.2 case
