@jesteroftorutuga, did you check H2D speeds again in case the system has flashed the box successfully? Please provide more details (system/mac - add to your signature). Also read wiki to perform a debug flash and share logs.

@mac_editor, thanks for the quick reply. I just dropped this info into my signature, but here it is just in case: 2018 15" MacBook Pro (RP560X) [8th,6C,H] + Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming Box + MacOS 10.5.4 + Windows 10 Version 1909 (Bootcamp)

I ran benchmarks in box MacOS and Windows, they bot showed read speeds in excess of 2k but write speeds no higher than 1,300-1,400. I understand this to mean the H2D is still halved.

I saw the debug note on the wiki, yeah. I can try to do that later today. But seems like we have identical hardware and if I'm not misreading, the Gaming Boxes have been confirmed to work with this in an earlier post.

Hoping I don't need to spend an afternoon decrypting filevault!

(Solved Error 12 in both 1909 and 2004 with the 1903 pci.sys file swap, as explained here: https://egpu.io/forums/pc-setup/egpu-fail-after-update-to-windows-19-03/)

Hoping I don't need to spend an afternoon decrypting filevault!

This is not required for debugging and for T2 Macs, internal disk can never be decrypted unless booted. So when you turn off FileVault on these Macs, it just (essentially) means "decrypt without a password" - but the T2 only does that when booting the system (which remains encrypted).

Glitches may occur with UI/progress bar if the GPU is inside the enclosure when flashing. I would suggest disabling Boot Security before trying the debugging steps.

Apple likely made some changes to flashing on 10.15.5 - at least they made sure that they changed the location of ThorUtil.efi so this script does not execute (haha). Just released 1.0.2 which allows flashing on 10.15.5.

@mac_editor, you sir are a magician. That worked! CL!ng now showing upwards of 2200 in both directions. Thank you so much.

For the record, after disabling boot security the flash did appear graphically to go well without opening the enclosure to disconnect the graphics card. But it didn’t actually take. If you’re going to flash the RX580 Gaming Box with this method, seems you have to open it up (pretty easy) and disconnect the power cable at the top of the card (didn’t bother removing it entirely).

Thanks again!

@jesteroftorutuga, yes, disconnecting GPU power works too. Script recommends removing eGPU in case user is using one that just relies on PCIe power. Good to hear flash went well after that.

@mac_editor

I’ve decompressed Mantiz Venus “USB Hotfix” firmware but can’t find any .bin file. inside the archive the only “big” file is a .text about 2MB. Could it be the firmware? Do you want it to test and analyse?
