[Sticky] [SCRIPT] TBTFlash - Convenient eGFX Flashing for macOS
I also have a script to examine the DROM(s) of each firmware (1MB firmwares from rom readers contain two copies - the active and inactive firmwares). It gets the version number, and determines if the DROM is in the active or inactive part of the firmware. Firmwares for firmware updaters only contain one firmware (less than 500 KB) but a firmware updater may have several firmwares (for different products? or different controllers in the eGPU?).
Everything worked flawlessly, and it only took a few seconds!
I'm now swapping out the included PSU for a beefy Corsair SF750. I'm also upgrading the case fan to the higher-performance Akasa Viper 120mm as soon as it arrives.
Thank you @mac_editor for this awesome tool, I'm super happy 🥳
Also updated @itsage's firmware links post with this new link.
Wait, is this the standard firmware without USB issue???? Can I finally fix my Venus??
I've tried to flash firmware yesterday, removing GPU, disabling security, no errors in nvram but I have the same issue with my Venus: headphone connected to eGPU stutter, mouse sometimes freeze for a second... sigh.
Ok I've extracted the firmwares, which I must use? This one seems the newer one
there is also this one for DevilBox
I hope someone manages to find a way to increase the PD limit of the XGStation Pro from 15W to 60 or higher. I think that the XGSTation is actually the perfect companion to most ultrabooks (who are working with 60W chargers, typically) since it's very small. It just has this big flaw where its PD is only 15W.
Does anybody know whether we can mix TB3 firmwares between vendors? I'm trying to fix some issues on my Gaming Box + MBP16 and maybe I can bump the firmware version from the one provided by Gigabyte (v27) to something newer. All attempts using Intel official updater failed saying that the hardware generation is different or the vendor doesn't match.
